She really hit that s***. Iāve ran this back 4x now. Each track is lush and layered yet authentic. Loved each track but if I had to pick a personal favorite itād be Minnieās Lament or Adventures in Paradise or Alone in Brewster Bay (could legit list every track). I feel like these sort of recipes have been translated much differently into todayās soundscape. I thought she sounded familiar then Inside my Love came on and it clicked. Also the runtime of the album is perfect, 10 songs 40 minutes,

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLiu2JNavFowas listening to this during work, and that title track was immaculate. I havenāt listened to a ton of Rock from the 70s, but I could definitely use some more recommendations in this realm. really wish this was on streaming

Yeah man it used to be on AM and one day it just disappeared. Probably label issues or something along those lines. Glad you enjoyed though, I know prog stuff can be hit or miss with people.

this album is album cause it took them over a decade to make a joint project together and they totally picked up a new sound/genre to do it on too
(GREEN is a 1986 Japanese instrumental album of well-textured retro synth pieces by the late Hiroshi Yoshimura)

ā
Some tracks conjure up some pretty solid imagery
SHEEP to me is like basking in the tranquility of a light winter snowfall on a forest, and then when the scales go higher in the second half, it switches focus to a soft glow of a sun in outer space
SLEEP's somber lo-fi melody contrasted against the hopeful, brighter synth melody feels like the ongoing battle of depression vs restored optimism someone might have
Thought of a child touching a CRT screen for the first time on TEEVEE also
The urgency of the percussive opening synths on CREEK or the hurried ones in FEEL give me slight Oneothrix Point Never vibes, specifically his film scores, wonder if he ever drew inspiration from Yoshimura
š¬
Although these tracks can be pleasant in their simplicity, they do overstay their welcome running at 5-6 minutes
The production is good overall but apart from SHEEP and SLEEP, its a little hard to "get lost in them", leaving me to notice more when parts of a song loop more instead
Found myself thinking a lot about film scores, JRPG cutscenes and visual novels while listening to this also, like a lot of this material would fit well in those medium like that but that reinforces my critique because as they stand a lot of them do feel like they are missing...."something"
TL;DR
A fine listen. I do like the production style and there are some standout tracks to me for their imagery but overall I'd say it's close to the middle for me. Grateful to be put onto someone I haven't heard of before though! š«
š Misc thoughts
Wasn't expecting this album to get somber in the second half. Kinda respected it, especially in the title track, since I don't typically associate the color green with loneliness but I kinda see the vision now
Cause like sure green is common in the natural world but in the manmade one not really: feel like green-haired or green-skinned characters are typically treated as or depicted as outsiders

1976 - Al Stewart - Year of the Cat
It's on MSPs as well as a couple remasters although my go-to is a vinyl rip which I can send you if you prefer to listen that way.
