feel like 2013 onwards
that year was like the year which set precedent for music rest of 2010s many break in stars, the old guard started to lose relevance, pop music was changing, trap was starting pick up mainstream traction, streaming was picking up, Beyoncé s/t was cultural reset, royals was also
2013-2018 really was a goated time
also even tho the beach boys invented concept albums before pet sounds it basically put it on the map and created a before and after that many jumped onto right of the bat as soon as it came out but even generations later
roger waters said himself it was the blueprint to his conceptual albums for pink floyd (see dark side of the moon, wish you were here, animals, the wall...)
Tlop made artsists release s*** projects then fix it after the fact like a title update (dont hate I like TLOP)
this actually so true lol
Not saying long albums didn't exist prior
But after Drake dropped Views, the trend of 20 track albums being released by mainstream rap-artists picked up
After seeing Drake's commercial success with the hefty Views tracklist, I think a lot of rap-artists realised that inflating their albums boosted streams
that is a reach. drake wasnt the only one to drop a 20 track album in 2016 lol
After Blueprint 3 we had pop rap radio hits with a big pop chorus for like 5 years
Eminem, B.o.B., Macklemore, Wiz Khalifa - See You Again, Mirror with Bruno Mars and so on
Then it transitioned into rappers singing the hook by themselves but Idk which album did it
Think drake in general popularized and influenced that
Who popularised pop and rap collaborations
Earliest I can remember is wen Blondie and Grandmaster flash did a song
Idk if you’d count Aerosmith x Run DMC
Illmatic, mutiple producers on an album, wasnt the first but was the trendsetter
Whoa didn’t know this, super dope ty
Graduation with the shutter shades, I had like three pairs when I was a young lad
Illmatic was first major rap album to have multiple producers on a record
What? Lol no it wasn't.
Whoa didn’t know this, super dope ty
Lol krs first album had multiple producers.
What? Lol no it wasn't.
never said it was first one though
I know there was records before even krs one which had multiple producers but illmatic was one to really show you can have multiple producers on rap record and be just as good as album with single producer
