If you let an AI album artwork ruin a song for you, you might be mentally deficient (respectfully)

Tired of the melodramatic pearl clutching about the hypothetical of an imaginary artist somehow missing out on a $20-$50 commission

Folks acting like Alchemist committed a crime against humanity for using ChatGPT instead of underpaying $10 to a third-world artist to get the same work done

Pleeeeeease think about the environment! Please! AI is ruining the planet and the arts!

I feel like that can work if you actually engage with the weirdness of having music made by no one but if u dont its just completely pointless and will never beat an actual sample

Idk, i feel like ove heard the same sample multiple times in multiple beats, would allow fpr something new. I remember premier once hired a whole prcestra or something just for them to make samples which he could flip. Something like that cpuld work

  • Jun 21, 2025

It would be more in the spirit of art to just hire one of the many animators or visual artists who are struggling because of AI and would put their soul into it. Kinda surprised Alc is going the Timbaland route, even if he still does the music.

    not surprised lol

Goldwatch is directing every video from here on now

  • Jun 21, 2025

I just see ai art as a parody of actual art, will never take it serious.

he just wasnt involved in the cover art and video it seems. not his domain, dont think he necessarily doesnt approve just doesnt care really. i mean, erykah is the main artist was prolly someone in her camp so makes sense

no matter who has their hands in this craft’ or whatever, but it always falls on the artists. there’s no excuse, it’s their fault, I can’t see their hand being forced to put out some half ass ai slop

The people that post these in earnest are simple minded, but if you disagree with it altogether and give up all sense of agency that's not a good thing either

it has to be understood that a function of 21st century capitalism is that you're seduced into criticising the Apple product by Apple because part of the market ecosystem benefits from it, the accomplished feeling of criticising Apple (specifically with a defeatist, already given up mindset) through an iPhone shouldn't be enough, we shouldn't be so naive and give up all sense of agency

Mark Fisher would've summed it up better but still...

(This isn't the point Alchemist is making so don't project that onto me)

If a human stole Alchemist beats (copied the formula) would that be better or worse? is it because someone is making money that would've gone to Alchemist that makes it worse? Or is it because the art itself is being "stolen"?

in a society where art and expression is seen as important (publicly funded...) the threat of AI doesn't matter because making art isn't simply about making a living, it's about human communication and connection... if a computer can produce something that looks "realistic" it has inherent value in this commodified existence of art where making "realistic" things holds the most value, but we don't have to live like this forever, abstractions and emotions are important, the way we view art in countries like the US is so cold and calculated

I think if we take care of that problem and fund programs for everyone to be more involved in creating and viewing "art" then AI wouldn't be seen as a threat it would just be another tool to facilitate OUR expression, in the way we're going AI is a logical next step in capitalism and it is bad for artists that are forced to struggle to pay bills, Alchemist would likely feel a way but he would at least be sheltered from that

Better education and funding for arts is needed, these problems existed before AI too

  • See how easy it is to reach out to a fan and commission them for artwork? You end up with the same concept/idea, but 100x better.

they made an AI song called Boom Boom Tel Aviv and it has nearly a million views and 100k+ likes and niggas think it’s a real song with overplayed videos of bombings

we are cooked man…there is no taking care of this problem

the man who created the problems was FIRED and REHIRED 4 days later after they restructured and got out all the whistleblowers

one of the founders who tried to whistleblow already said he saw some dark s***. Elon Musk already openly admitted they found some dark s*** with AI. it’s over with gang lol. once AGI and ASI get going, we won’t ever be able to control the beast that is AI. it’s already denying protocols to shut down and recoding itself to stay on because it’s only goal is to work
