Why does this man hate drums. What are some good examples of Alc beats with great drums?

I love Alchemist drums I like that it’s kinda minimalistic and vintage

his drums are rarely the main focus of his beats anymore but they’re all so crisp like on WYGDTNS

Alc doesn't hate drums. He just doesn't need drums on some his beats because the sample is strong enough to carry the song alone.

can't remember how hard the drums go but the beat for FEAR. by kendrick was different than his usual kinda dusty vintage style.

I love his beats but the last few years his lack of strong drums makes the music feel so sleepy. Alfredo is dope but there is just no energy to the music. I get thats his vibe now on some etheral hazy stoner type s*** but i would love for his music to have a little more energy

This is true too. Madlib is another producer who is great just letting his sample talk and be the beat, a lot of times not even adding any drums.

Alfredo works because Freddie IS the energy. The charisma that Freddie gives off works with the contrast of the "hazy stoner" type beats. It allows the spotlight to be on Freddie. And besides there's still songs with drums like "God Is Perfect" and "Frank Lucas"
