Damn :(
Did you like Birdman?
I fw Birdman, it was a fun watch
I’d still recommend this purely for the cinematography tho & maybe you’ll get way more out of this than I did

For sure ima definitely check it out still. The trailer was intriguing and it’s been on my anticipated list of 2022.
I f***ed wit Birdman a lot so was hoping this would be close to that
Had a ticket to see this after work & I f***in slept in, will have to wait for Netflix I’m kicking myself..
This looks crazy. Was gonna watch dune tomorrow but I’m going with this instead

Like dune 1?
Love how Toro be co-signing films of his peers
I admire that. Cameron is absolutely right I’ve noticed all the co-signs Toro has given out just this year alone
👀 what’s it looking like
It’s super maximal? It’s like any idea alejandro had while writing it, he got the budget for and shot in the most expensive/vast way possible. I can see people finding very messy and empty
But it does have a lot of interesting threads about art, criticism, immigration, white cultures feeling the need to validate foreign artists, foreign artists wanting western approval, culture and history in the places your roots come from etc.
But whether or not these things are fully fleshed out and realised, or literally just tiny motifs and themes that pop up and get left behind… will be in the eye of the viewer

Great breakdown. I started watching it and got about an hour in but then had to cover a shift for work, so ima watch it in full later tonight.
From what I seen I definitely got the sense that this could of been amazing if it was simplified and narrowed down to 1 theme/subject, because what I seen visually looked great but story wise had ALOT going on and didn’t really seem cohesive.
It seemed like a bad rip off of Malick
I was gonna watch Fabelman tonight but I might watch this
Why not both like me
