If art increases its lies it can be dangerous and self serving to the audience . Kenny Rockwell is not a sincere character . He runs a security firm in a dystopia and can trace any human being in the world.
This aspect right here is never mentioned by Alejandro at all in that interview
you just said you watched now its you read.
brother I am done discussing be a pathological liar with someone else
Does it make a difference? It's the same interview
This aspect right here is never mentioned by Alejandro at all in that interview
the movie says it . its literally why the actor pauses acting
the movie says it . its literally why the actor pauses acting
Yes I understand that. That doesn't make it the overarching message of the movie. Alejandro says what he believes the overarching message is at the beginning of the interview, yet you're choosing to ignore that
I am not clogging the thread with this man. If you think the movie says one thing I dont care. We agree that it doesnt say art is pointless nor did I ever say it says art is pointless

Nobody said that you said that

Part of the movie is the value of art but at the same time yes there is a key reason he has that specific character deliver that in such a hamfisted way to get the main actor to act again . Think about the things throughout the movie that lead to a pause in the play rehearsal and why
Nobody said that you said that
what are you saying I am saying ? What are you saying that I am saying that is so wrong?
Because what i have made clear is Kenny Rockwell isnt to be trusted including what he says is his purpose

It's an aspect of the film, yes, but to say that it's the overarching message of the story is doing a disservice to the movie
If you think this movie is defending primetime we disagree. To each their own. Yet primetime got great reviews and much more of the box office than this movie ever will so

You're saying the main message of the film that people should take away from it is people should be more critical and aware of who is controlling the narratives in art, and be more cognizant of how art can lie to us
It's an aspect of the film, yes, but to say that it's the overarching message of the story is doing a disservice to the movie
If Kenny Rockwell message was the main part of the film and we should take it at face value then the movie could have ended right there
You're saying the main message of the film that people should take away from it is people should be more critical and aware of who is controlling the narratives in art, and be more cognizant of how art can lie to us
Correct which is a theme presented throughout the entirety of the movie as well. Thats the theme I recongnize. if you disagree thats great. The only theme isnt the value of art. Yes some of it is to laugh at our reality but they have been seeing this same play for 20+ years while living the worse effects of it. It in this case is escapism but they are escaping to how it became traumatic and laughing at it. When if you look at critics and many reactions most of the moments before the twist we do not find ourselves hugely laughing at or entertained by. Its entertaining to what a billionaire would do of it. The actual original poor version of this narrative before it was coopted by the rich billionaire who is ltierally controlling the narrative is quite clearly lead to believe it was different.

Agree to disagree but I think walking away with that as the main theme is doing a disservice to the film
If all of what you are saying was true there are key story choices that wouldn't be made he wouldnt have bought the story from the poor who originally acted multiple characters. Buying the rights to the story to control the story. Then make many changes to it over 20 years its been shown to the point the actor is stopping to say "it didnt happen like this " he isnt saying that because he loves Digger Rockwell and is defending him. he is doing that because it has drifted so far from the truth. The audience is presented as rich. Their clapping, f\*\*\* yous , crying looks mindless at the climax as they celebrate the suicide of a man who died 25 years ago. With a greatly oppressive society outside and people being killed right outside their door. Yes their is value in art but if an Israeli was selling Netanyahu killing himself in Gaza but the whole world around them was destroyed. Only the rich with mask could get in. There is a message being displayed there.

if the family of Hitler was dropping a parody of hitler and screening it to jewish victims for money. While adding in comedy which if anything humanizes Digger. the entire monologue of Digger turning it on the audience didnt happen in real life either lol. that is Kenny Rockwell a billionaire turning it on the audience. same as saying well you drove a car here you didnt carpool so hahah. When the manin source of economic turmoil as shown throughout the film is the use of bombs. Whcih literally in the movie makes the problem worse but its a lesson they refuse to learn from. To the point they want to drop a nuke but cant do so because the president refuses to read a book about the effects it would have on others

the play is literally controlling the narrative how can you not get that . HE BOUGHT THE IDEA OFF THE POOR. Made it a huge production and CHANGED IT FROM THE STORY THE POOR WERE CREATING. The original piece of art from the poor by the poor could change lives BUT IT NEVER REACHES THE AUDIENCE.
i feel like im p sure they said the original was already a classic and this was basically a big budget version of it
That's a minor theme in the movie, not denying that, but I'm saying it's not the main theme
to you its a minor theme to me if that theme didnt exist I would in many ways agree with the critiques hating on it. That theme and presentation of it and twist for many of us saves the movie . Because there is a call to action and something we can improve on as an audience.
the movie purpose isnt "we are all causing climate change hahah you drove here you stupid f*** and you need to stop escapism through art"
the critics who hate it that is what they are getting out of it
i feel like im p sure they said the original was already a classic and this was basically a big budget version of it
I think that was said too, I'ma have to verify on a rewatch
But if that was the case, then nothing in the original play was changed anyway, so that entire thematic strand about Kenny changing the story is baseless

they openly say they made changes multiple times throughout the movie.

no its not when the movie repeats over and over controlling the narrative.
