Yesterday, November 7th, marked the 25th anniversary of one of the best rock records of all time. AiCβs self titled album marked the culmination of the bands growth since blowing up onto the scene in the early 90βs.
Part of the phenomenal βgrungeβ wave out of Seattle, AiC made a name for themselves with their second album βDirtβ. Album after album saw immense growth in their instrumentation, band dynamic, and their lyricism. Throughout their evolution, however, lead singer Layne Staley was embroiled in severe addiction, bouncing in and out of rehab while trying his hardest to stay sober.
I loved this album the minute I heard it. So powerful yet very fragile, AiC came at a hard time in my life. It helped me put a pin in the way I was feeling; a little self destructive, looking for a way out and having trouble finding it.
This is for you Staley, may you rest in the highest peace.
Absolutely 0 misses on this album.
If you want to get into this album, Iβd say listen to their EP released the year before βJar of Fliesβ. Their second best record IMO but not by too much.
took a minute to love cuz the production masks layne's vocals a ltitle too much for my liking. But Frogs and Sludge Factory are all timers

This is fair. I personally love it it works really well. Sludge, Frogs, God Am, and Grind best songs of all time
Oof anything you mind sharing? This is def a dark album but i never had a bad experience
layne wrote the lyrics on this album rather than spliting with Jerry like on previous albums, so the lyrics here are much more straightforward and dark
amazing
Ah i see. Yea it is very much darker than those in a very visceral way. Kinda gives it its charm
Alice in Chains inspired Death Magnetic
f*** metallica bruh, hetfield used to make fun of Layne's addiction on stage by playing the riff of would? and mimicking injecting heroin

Damn that's corny as s***. Wish I didn't know that
But I still like Metallica's music (mainly the first few albums)
