  • I’m not against cancel culture entirely - I think it can be incredibly effective in blocking vile people from becoming powerful members of society (future Kavanaughs, Trumps, etc) — but we can’t do this at the first sight of trouble when they’re 15.

  • An adult can learn from being cancelled, some kid will just become more filled with hate

And I guess I feel the same way about calling up middle schools and high schools and canceling 14-15 year old white suburban racist kids

Like all that is going to accomplish is making them bitter and probably making them a lifelong racist lol. We’re not even giving them their adolescent years to grow.

But yeah it’s tough maybe they don’t grow regardless and become a Supreme Court justice but that’s why if they continue to be racist/vile/etc in their adulthood then we cancel

any problematic aspects of my character has been called out and criticized and i only grew from there but i understand what you mean by endless vitriol being directed towards adolescents still growing.

Same with me fam - but there’s a difference when someone you know calls something out and that leads you to reflect and some kid on IG with an agenda to “catch” these people and upend their s***. The latter, I really strongly believe, will lead to more hatred

yeah but i think the question is it that do you expect people from twitter to take the time and educate racists when it’s not their responsibility?

I mean it literally is. That girl didn't even have an accent or anything. She just sounded like any girl who was raised in America would sound like. Voice actors voice act for characters outside of themselves.

You would not care at all about this if you couldn't use it make a point about being offended. You're the petty offended one lol

I mean I agree it comes off as corny and pandering but I completely understand why Alison and others are doing it.

I’m sure she doesn’t truly think she did anything wrong, and she didn’t, but if the cancel culture Twitter mob up and decides they don’t like it one day.... she’s better off just saying something now to potentially get ahead of it instead of having to apologize after the fact and it costs her tons of money in future jobs because a company doesn’t wanna deal with the backlash of hiring her cause the Twitter mob doesn’t like this.

im far from privileged but what has Alison brie herself done to block talented minorities from voicing certain characters. If you have a great voice that suits the character then you deserve the position. it's not like kids or the viewer in particular knows the person voicing the character isn't the actual ethnicity of the said character. Also Phil Lamarr who is black is one of my favorite voice actors, voices not only Jon Stewart /Green Lantern but also Samurai Jack which is an asian character

she’ll be fine. This is not the first time a famous white actor has played an asian person before.

As long as they aren’t touching kids or killing ppl in real life their white privilege will always prevail
