pop stanbases know how to game the system to inflate streams like crazy at this point, so a lot of them probably just apply that to every song they like

either that or streaming bot farms & payola-type playlisting going unchecked

The thing that shocks me the most

I remember when Puberty 2 dropped and it wasn't that big

And now Mitski is gigantic, how did we get from where she was in 2016 to her being 74th on Spotify worldwide?

(Not saying it's a bad thing I'm just shocked)

another reason why AM >>>>> SpotLfy

at least AM has the decency to make it less obvious when the algorithm has been influenced by a paycheck

  • Streaming will implode one day. It’s not the final evolution of music consumption like everyone thinks it is. I don’t know what the next thing will be, but streaming definitely isn’t the final one.

This is why I always say: buy your music!!! Physicals and/or digital. Don’t think your Spotify library will be around forever. One day that s*** will be gone and all of your music with it

You're just crazy, it's all organic talented artists.

Speaking of talent, let me introduce you to Rich Amiri. The rising star in this current music scene is making waves with his unique blend of hip-hop and R&B. He has absolute bangers such as Ain't Nothing (a track that caught fire on social media and SoundCloud, propelling him into the spotlight), Codeine Crazy (another hit that solidified his presence in late 2023), and One Call (this viral sensation on TikTok debuted at number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2024). Whether you’re vibing to his tracks or on the edge of further discovering his fresh sound, Rich Amiri is definitely an artist you won’t want to pass up on, yo. 🎶🔥

Idk how I feel about this whole situation

It’s interesting cuz there’s a “big” thing going on with DistroKid where they are removing people’s songs for being botted when they haven’t even been botted

It seems like if ur under a major they work with Spotify and can bot but if ur independent ur s*** will just get flagged

Im also a nerd so I watch Spotify numbers and nothing I see ever really screams “botted” to me

  • Although in the context of Spotify, Indonesia, the Philippines, or Brazil may be more apt

10 mil the new 500 thousand

that makes sense honestly i know danny brown has a few songs on youtube with 10m or close to that plays and it's an undertaking to play a song on youtube spotify you just got and play it a few times, put it on a playlist, or spotify themselves serves it to you via playlist or whatever other means. songs just find themselves to people

  • Spotify is the world's leading audio streaming service, with 574 million users and 226 million premium subscribers across 184 regions.

??? Spotify streaming farms are very well documented lol, and they’re obvious

if you look at the data about which cities play certain songs the most, you’ll often see random low-population cities as the #1 streaming locations for those songs, and it’s usually the same cities for all of them

it's the second one. labels are allowed to bot.
