Like 2 years ago a hallmark of being “alt-right” was being anti Israel and now every major “right wing” network and pundit is vehemently pro-Israel while the left side of the political spectrum calls for death to Israel.

Is this not confusing for anyone else? Not really looking to discuss the politics, but I’m just like??? Am I tripping?

Lots of alt right people are still anti Israel / circumstantially ‘pro Palestinian’ to tangentially be anti jew or antisemetic. Not through any virtue or admirable moral conviction.

‘Every major right wing network’ isn’t the same as ‘the alt right’.

Right wingers and conservative media has been pro Israel forever, as have liberal or ‘centrist’ networks & basically all mainstream political apparatuses.

‘The left side calls for death to Israel’, they’re calling for dismantling of the organisation of Israel that relies on the humiliation & subjugation of Palestinian people. That’s what Israel has been since it’s conception and anyone principled on the left has always wanted that system broken.

    Nothing seems bizarro here.

I agree with pretty much all of what you’re saying, I’m just saying on a more micro scale I guess, like 3 years ago someone like a Rashida Talib would call someone anti-Semitic for saying stop sending money to Israel and now her peers are calling for funds to stop being sent to Israel

Respectfully, I think you just have a broad and shallow view on the situation because I have no idea what that means.

‘Someone like Rashida Talib’ (whatever that means) would call someone anti semetic if they were saying ‘stop sending money to Israeli because they’re all greedy Jews’

She wouldn’t call someone anti semetic for saying ‘stop sending weapons to Israel because these rockets & munitions are used to carry out war crimes on Palestinian people. and year after year of support have covered the hands of America in blood’

These aren’t like ‘this thing is 100% this’ types of situations. You’re seeing some sort of hypocrisy or double standard that isn’t there. I think maybe your view of Israel is shallow?? or your view of the left wing is shallow and it’s leading to misplaced confusion. Respectfully ofc because you haven’t said anything crazy I just think a bit wrong

See this why I said I didn’t wanna get into the weeds of the actual policy and whatnot. I’m just saying it seems like in my personal view, 3 years ago, both sides of the aisle would be on the complete opposite “team” of this conflict. Maybe I’m wrong but idk it felt like a few years ago merely mentioning Israel was banishable in left wing circles

Do you have any examples on the context or something someone would say that would lead people on the left to that reaction? If it’s some anti semetic s*** than obviously. If it’s a critique or anger towards the Israeli government then absolutely not, the left have (rightfully) been doing that for decades.

    Criticism of George Soros

Huh? Your example of someone on the left banishing you for mentioning Israel is ‘criticism of George Soros’ ??? How is he an example of mentioning Israel?

Netenyahu and the Israeli government hate him and think he funds american Hamas support.

again I’d say the context and content of the critical would matter. Criticism of George Soros isn’t one big singular thing.

The criticism of George Soros is rarely used by anyone who isn’t just trying to connect dots between the Jewish elite, immigration, white replacement. He’s the super villain for Qanon, Alex Jones, MAGA, Nick Fuentes etc. he’s hugely entangled with the conspiracy theories of the right wing and has been since like the 90s. So yeah I’m sure broadly people on the left don’t find criticism of Soros particularly useful or interesting because of its proximity to all the weird s***. But there are left wing critiques of George Soros that wouldn’t get you ‘banished’. But they probably wouldn’t have anything to do with Israel
