That’s his fault
A contract is a promise for those years
It’s a players responsibility to be educated on the contract they are signing and they need to honor it
These athletes ain’t children man. This is a business. Pippen a selfish player and he’s dumb af for taking that contract
Yes it's a business. Just as him getting surgery in the middle of a season was a business decision to display his displeasure with his current contract.
Why is it when a player does something it's "selfish" and "greedy", but when these billion dollar owners do something it's " just business"

Because a player is under contract to give their full services for the team
There was zero need for Scottie to delay his surgery and he did it because he’s a selfish piece of s*** who doesnt care about his promise to the team that he signed. He not only disgraces the agreement he made with the owners but he also disgraces his teammates by not being there for them.
He was selfish and it’s obvious he’s only about the money
The responsibility of the owner is to build the best team possible and the bulls owners honored that end
they under contract
Stop it
If it wasn’t for the owners, nobody would give a s*** about watching pro basketball in the first place
That’s under the details of the contract that they can be cut or traded
Players agree to that when they sign it
Don’t act like players can’t tell the owner they want to be traded and the owner honors it as well

He's only about money? So? It's just business right? They offered him that contract knowing that it'll be a bargain down the road if Scottie lived up to his potential. That's shady taking advantage of a young player like that, but at the same time a smart business move on their part. Just as Scottie getting surgery was s***ty for his team, but good for the role in attempt to get the front office to wilt.
I have no sympathy for teams when they can cut out trade you whenever they want. So players should be able to do whatever they feel they need to, to get money if they feel they're underpaid.

But when an owner gives gilbert arena an insane 7-8 year contract and he fails to live up to it, it’s alright and the owners fault for paying up that much right?
Scottie is under contract to play his heart out for the organization. This front office drama is entirely his fault because he signed a bad deal but he has to honor his promise. That’s the point of business. And furthermore, he also is letting the team down and the fans down. That is hence why what he did is a purely selfish act.
I have zero sympathy for athletes. They get paid millions to do something that would never have any monetary utility were it not for these sports owners in the first place. Just like I have zero sympathy for the Wizards for making a terrible long term contract deal with Arenas only to get screwed. We have seen plenty of bad deals that go for either side but the point is you have to honor it
The wizards never said “arenas isn’t playing man! Don’t pay him his contract!” They honored it
F*** Scottie

Well, they can afford bad contacts at the end of the day. And like you said it's a business. Scottie did honor his contract. Scottie is within his right to get surgery. If he used it as some sort of loop hole to sit out or to spite ownership, oh freaking well, it's just business right? Didn't technically break any rules. He smartly gamed the system as a negotiating tactic just as the Bulls smartly offered him a long term deal that could potentially end up being a bargain for them down the road.

"they can afford bad contracts"
Scottie can afford missing out on some millions too by that logic
Scottie did not honor his contract because the contract would mean that if he is able, he should be able to play his hardest for that team. He was easily able to get surgery in that offseason and then come back and perform. He was easily able to stop being a spoiled brat and begging the owner to give him more money despite a mutual agreement between them on the amount he should receive.
He did not smartly game the system. He just exposed himself as a selfish player who was butthurt about making a s*** deal. There was absolutely nothing smart about Pippen in general tbh. He signed one of the s***tiest contracts we have seen in the NBA and then just kept coming off as a crybaby year by year.
Imagine being top 5 in the world at what you do and being paid a middle of the pack salary in said field.
It would be pretty frustrating to say the least.
