This is absolute insanity if true. I know someone who was working nearby the warehouse when it collapsed

"Amazon said employees were directed to shelter in place at a designated assembly area at the front of the building, which was near a restroom."
Did they not even have a legit tornado shelter built? In the midwest? They sending people to the bathroom and whatever a "designated assembly area" is?
I never make threads about this s***, I'm posting about it because I grew up around this area. People died over some negligent bullshit show some respect
did i make fun of the situation or the direction these threads take? ill delete it lmao
I'm not here to defend amazon at all but isn't the standard procedure for these things to shelter in place?
Wasn’t there also a candle company that didn’t let their employees leave
yeah in Mayfield Kentucky, happened on the same night as this with a big storm system

i normally assume these threads only exist to stir the pot but i trust you

this is the thing though Health staff would never let people go in the middle of a fcking tornado

Wtf does it mean to "stir the pot". Are we supposed to ignore wrongdoings because of some imaginary pot that shouldn't be stirred?

But the question is are there adequate facilities to shelter in place? Some people were told to hide in the bathroom and whatever a "designated assembly area"
There's no reason there can't be some sort of underground shelter when you got Amazon money

Furthermore the surviving workers were sent to work the very next day with no paid time off
didnt they let them leave to protect them?
This storm system was being tracked for hours, the tornado didn't magically appear out of the air above the building with no warning
Just to play devils advocate here since I’m anti-bezos but that might have just been protocol. There is a difference between “you can’t leave keep packing boxes” and “you can’t leave it’s dangerous to be out right now.”
I know that it ended up being dangerous inside cause if the collapse but it could still be the right decision in aggregate.
I think hold the pitchforks for more detail.

Yes

Yeah I fully agree they should've had the center prepared with such shelters. However, Idk if allowing employees to go home would've helped/had better outcomes based on what I know currently.

by stirring the pot i meant starting political debates in life sxn. we all already know amazon is horrible i think. not trying to go off topic more in op's thread though
Well did they have prior warning the tornado was coming or what
Tornadic supercells were spotted heading towards the area as early as 7:30 PM and a confirmed tornado wasn't reported until at least 9PM so there was more than enough time to come up with something
It's f*** Amazon but honestly? I probably would have stayed there myself. I personally would have felt much safer in a warehouse than driving on the road.
