they use similar shots for their cold opens. the intro montage for this episode as well is full of similar camera movement. the show is shot on a whole another level tbh compared to everything out there so cant complain much but my one usual gripe with it is they rely on the "so what's exactly happening in this one? mysterious..." setup a bit too much and this one was going for something similar when in fact it just needed to hit hard.
i feel the point you made about mysterious shots but you don't think this one hit hard?
These 10 minutes where we see the human side of Gus were actually nice.
yeah this scene was fire on rewatch, potentially the last gus scene ever

I was worried about them sticking the landing with Mike and Gus, especially them as a team, but I loved it more that I think about it.
In their last scene together, I couldn’t not think of Eladio’s words. “A little bit of hate is okay as long as you know whos boss”
Their brand of justice and revenge is obviously toxic and corrosive like Varga Sr. said but those last two scenes felt like the Granite State and Felina moments that Gus and Mike didnt get to have because of their abrupt deaths. Makes it hit harder especially knowing they didnt go out on their own terms like Walt got to.
Rewatching BCS from the beginning knowing how this all plays out >>
Yeah I think I’m gonna rewatch this in the winter and then go right into breaking bad
What a fkn episode.
I thought the character work with Gus and Mike was so well done! Which is wild bc this aspect of the story was what I was most worried about how they would conclude it since we know how their stories play out.
Mike isn’t any better than Hector,Lalo,Gus, etc. Revenge is a vicious cycle and there is no true justice that comes from it, no matter what Mike tells himself.
Gus has won….for now. And though he has a brief moment of genuine human connection and lets his guard down ever so slightly, he is at the end of the day a slave to revenge. Losing Max changed him forever, and he will never be at peace until the Salamancas are eradicated.

I also think that the close call with Lalo tied up with what I assume was his first opportunity to tell a member of the Cartel what he truly thinks of them gave him that catharsis to evolve into the Gus we know from BB.
He couldnt let himself have that moment of peace and potential romance not only cause of what happened with Max but he’s locked in now more than ever. I been iffy on Gus in this show but they stuck the landing.
Saul is such a sleazy piece of s*** man
Tuco has a big heart and a serious passion for justice
Wasn’t that his blood brother
It may have been I just know they both came off a little flamboyant and Hector and Eladio clearly crack jokes about Gus being gay

hows your lovely abuelita?
I was a little confused about the Gus scene cause I get they were trying to hint at his sexuality but wasn’t the guy he was talking to talking about some girls body he thought was hot at one point?
Kim is sick for straight up lying like that
She doesn’t deserve happiness anymore ever again ngl
The wife knew
It’s all downhill for Saul now. Walt’s coming thru with death threats every 3 dats

Sounded more like gossip about some dude who was paying for p****
Hated Kim's character this entire season
Saul literally tried to stop her from doing all that s\*\*\* and now she wanna break up like b\*\*\*\* you should've listened
Also her reasoning made no sense. She didn't tell him because she knew he would fear for her and want to protect her? What's wrong with that? And then the leap to go from that to somehow he would want to break up makes no sense tf
I feel like they just didn't know how to write her out of the show so they made up some bullshit storyline that honestly felt pretty poorly written imo
Completely in character for her. Characters making stupid selfish choices does not equate to dumb writing
i feel the point you made about mysterious shots but you don't think this one hit hard?
tbh it's such a subjective thing lol. if it was up to me i'd prolly just do a still shot of a naked saul sleeping in the bed
if this scene was the only option to transition to. But they went with a trademark thing for the show so it's not like it's out of place or anything
i think i was just looking for something poignant. This felt more like starting a new movie (whose flavor has already been established through flashforwards). We know what that sleazy saul lifestyle looks like. so i think it was just repetitive
I love how abrupt cutting to Saul was. All of a sudden he has that weird hair, Saul affectation in his voice, he has the mansion, his office is finished
