Jimmy’s story honestly feels like the main story and the main saga at this point
"breaking bad" episode did that
Wrote a review for the finale if anybody cares to read:
I’m not gonna waste any time. The finale delivered. One of the best ever? Maybe. Starting off we get a never before seen scene from Bagman. Nice to see we got a final Mike scene. This scene parallels their first scam together when Mike took the Kettlemen’s stolen money, and Jimmy brings it back but later wonders why he did he right thing. Here he’s literally sitting on 7 million like he says, but obviously these are much larger stakes, he’s involved with the cartel now, there’s no right option. He shockingly mentions that he’d get a Time Machine with that money. If you haven’t noticed this season there’s prominently been a Time Machine book in the background. Both in the prequel time, but also during BB, maybe Gene but I haven’t spotted it there. Mike says he would change the moment he took his first bribe, brings a bit more context to Mike, but Jimmy… Jimmy wants to become a billionaire. Or trillionare if that’s a thing? It seems this episode Jimmy tries as long as possible to ignore the past until he can’t any longer. “That’s it, money?“ “What else?” “Nothing you’d change?” I love how the episode gets straight into the action. No time to breathe as Gene runs away from Marion’s house and right as he’s back home the cops are already on his tail. It’s easy to say this is arguably one of the most intense moments in both shows since it’s truly the end. Jimmy continues to evade the cops with the beautify cinematography you’d come to expect from this back like in the Season 2 Gene scene, and with the slanted lighting reminding us of the beginning of the series. I audibly yelled "YES!” when I realized he called Bill Oakley one, and he is now defending him, such a great way to bring him back. It’s shocking how confident Gene is, or Saul now. He wants this to end "With me on top, like always.” But he seems to have forgotten Kim’s impactful line in the Season 4 penultimate episode, “Jimmy you’re always down.”
Yeah he did it for Kim in the end. Still unrealistic cause no man in real life would do this but I ain't mad at it. I just couldn't help but say "that's it?" when the credits rolled. Folks eating up this ending but I feel like it could of been better or more fleshed out.
Maybe because i am so invested in Jimmy, wanting him to be redeemed.
I am a bit bias here.
I understand the criticism to some degree but to me it fits in line with Jimmy.
Jimmy followed Kim down the bad choice road leading to Howard’s death.
Kim left him and he got lost in the BB timeline.
When he hears Kim actually admitted to what she did that definitely influenced him to make the decision he made.
Jimmy’s story honestly feels like the main story and the main saga at this point
Saul is now the main character of this universe to me tbh
"breaking bad" episode did that
For sure but the speech on the stand solidified it all.
Wanna rewatch and get the exact lines but the s*** like ‘Walt would’ve been nothing, dead or arrest in a few months if not for me’ was just f***ing
Initially I wasn’t as into the retcon but it was all there in breaking bad too and not much of a retcon.
He still tells Walt he needs to get into business with Gus and start making more money by expanding but this just adds a whole new layer (and then many many many more layers on top)
I was trying to find a way to write this without sounding like a tool or weirdo
But finishing my favorite show of all time and then proceeding to give my girl all 90 seconds of d*** I could give
Gotta go down as a top 5 nut in my memory bank to this point
Him getting caught in a dumpster from being too loud opening the f***ing plastic casing on the burner is one of the best BCS moments ever
We all think maybe he’ll manage to call and it’ll be disconnected but no, it’s clamshell packaging
Saul is now the main character of this universe to me tbh
If you watch it from Slippin Jimmy to the Gene scenes and episodes, you’d think it’s the Jimmy show
I definitely expected the color to come back in the visitor's room at the ending
The cigarette lit being the only color was a nice touch though
I honestly think Breaking Bad is the best ending to a show I’ve ever seen

Also Jimmy has the earliest flashback in the entire universe.
It all begins and ends with him

Cutting to the high angle of the red EXIT sign
Obvious, on the nose callback but I clapped like a seal fr
Oakley was a subtle ass scene stealer in this very high pressure episode. Some hilarious reactions and lines. Asking if he could withdraw from the case in the middle of Jimmy’s confession
Saul went from just a comedic relief character to having the greatest universe in television history revolve around him. What a W

I like to think that when they cut to the EXIT sign that was a indication that Chuck spiritually was there watching Jimmy confess to everything and accept accountability
Something about Kim being in the back of the room listening while Jimmy is recounting Walt and everything that happened felt so eerie

Saul is one of my favorite characters in media period

Define way of just saying that above all this, his impression on Jimmy is just f***ing built into him
And the way Kim reacts when he starts talking about his brother was
i loved the finale. seeing how manipulative and morally low jimmy could stoop in this episode was a great contrast with his beautiful confession on the stand in the courtroom scene. i loved how he was forced to face his regrets. and i like how they painted that his regrets don't lie in his business w/heisenberg - rather, he regrets how his actions, in a way, made kim worse. i'd like to think that he felt bad for marie and blanca too

Oakley’s very under appreciated. He’s a weasel but he’s more of an a****** than a scumbag. He’s also funny as s*** too.
