LMAO, I can't really wrap my head around how he ten timed his sentence for Kim (can someone explain please?).
But the fact that Kim is the person about whom even Saul at some point was like: Bruh, chill - makes it kinda hilarious.
I mean, hey Kim, why don't you want to sit in prison for a million years instead? If you are so righteous.

I don’t think he did it for Kim. I think Kim coming clean herself influenced him doing so but I think he finally confessed so he could stop living a lie since we seen the toll that was taking on him in his Gene years

I get it bro. Maybe I’m just jaded.

I feel you. Like most of this show, I think it’s worth a rewatch. It didn’t land for me at first. I think the show could’ve benefitted from telegraphing Jimmy’s return from Saul a little bit better, could’ve shown Jimmy sinking into the underground a little further. but above all I think it’s honest

So what happened with the bottle stopper?

This doesn’t feel like the ending they initially wrote, something definitely changed

  • Aug 18, 2022

the BB guys definitely like a sort of 'redemptive' closing arc for characters. not unfair to think of it as a bit of a cop out for all these people who did horrible things but i can respect their consistency on it and also how it maybe reflects the love and respect they have for these characters they crafted. not everything needs to be openly nihilistic.

what i will say, and i alluded to it earlier though, and what i did like is how despite his attempts at breaking free from 'saul ' in the end, jimmy is still branded with exactly that (even to his benefit) on the way to and in prison. so maybe im misreading the creators' intentions but i read that as a sort of bittersweet sting to it and a wider comment on the character: no one thing turned jimmy into saul and no one thing will do it the other way, they are always one in the same. i think the show has maybe gone over the same little mini arcs and themes a bit too much at times so this was a little cool and subversive imo.

Wym? The bottle stopper in front of Jimmy's house?

Just did a little research, guess it was just meant for the opening of season 6

Thought it would have had a deeper meaning, my fault

I find the whole debate of realism here kinda weird tbh... have we all been watching the same world for the past 14 years?

Breaking Bad is a show that has a dude let some junkie girl die and create some goofy butterfly effect s*** where her dad goes to work - he just happens to be an air traffic controller - and then f***s up so bad a whole plane of people die.

Like, it's always been a heightened world, with tonnes of weird or goofy stuff for the sake of diving into its characters or exploring the themes at hand.

If you're someone that's worried about Jimmy giving up 7 years in prison because it's "unrealistic" but you're cool with the ridiculous s*** that was Walt basically causing a commercial airliner to go down, I dunno what to tell ya.

I mean it’s a realistic universe compared to most TV is all they mean

wait the plane driver was jane's dad? I was wondering how the hell that was relevant to the plot. To be fair though that was one of the weaker plot points in breaking bad. Most of the s*** that's praised in these shows is how grounded they feel regardless of how crazy the plot is. I think it is very fair to criticize the idea of a man chosing life in prison over 7 years. It's a very hollywood esque ending and the court scene is also really wacky. Just a very odd way to end this series imo
