Finished Murder House last night, haven’t seen it in full since it aired so the whole experience was a major trip. I remembered a lot of major beats but I didn’t realize how many of recurring faces were there from the very jump. Or that there was a Roanoke reference that s\*\*\* was sick

In a lot of ways MH is representative of the rest of the show in a way I forgot. Super campy, super sexual, melodramatic just absolutely jumps the gun from the beginning and doesn’t really let up. Honestly it reminded me of Lynch at times with how jarring the tone and character responses were. Very subtly surreal

I s*** on Asylum for being messy and the writers just throwing everything at the wall to see what would happen but MH really isn’t too different so I’m actually excited to watch it now since I never finished it back in the day.

All that said I really enjoyed my rewatch the first few eps were shakey but it catches a strong wind around the Halloween episodes and only has 1-2 duds after. I was pretty into everything going on all over again EXCEPT most stuff involving violet. I get she’s supposed to be edgy but her writing coupled with the amateur ass acting from her just sucks. Tate is also mega edgy but at least I bought it more.

I will say I don’t understand why Moira is one of the only spirits to have two forms. I get it’s supposed that to be used as a temptation thing by the house / is her punishment but why doesn’t anyone else choose to appear differently or have different personalities. Does she even control that s*** or is her perspective different idk

Also everyone was just way too f***ing chill in that house except Vivian, s*** was so batshit post like ep 4 or 5 and no one really batted an eye

Good write up it's also been a min for me so i dont quite remember some stuff but I also don't enjoy Violet's char that much She does get slightly better in Coven & Apocalypse but meh still not among my favs she's just too bland.

As for the Moira thing I think she does control it no? Cause towards the end she just remains the old one when things are getting "resolved". For everyone else it does change since there's more lore around the house in later seasons

I can’t remember what exactly happens in the MH episode of apocalypse except that violet is still avoiding tate I think and iirc Ben’s family is also avoiding him?? Maybe I got it mixed up. Haven’t seen apocalypse in years.

I’m actually pretty hyped to rewatch the show up to like 1984 at least

Never finished Freakshow or Hotel either so I have a few surprises left in store

And yeah but im confused why she chooses to look old and shot out or even how she got an old form when everyone else just doesn’t age or change much

iirc it had something to do with how he was born and the origins of the house. Never finished freakshow either only saw one ep and didnt feel it

Finished Asylum last night. Turned out I had watched more of it than i remembered and maybe even finished it at some point but for as much i remembered a ton of it may as well have been new.

I’ve been an Asylum hater for like 15 years, turns out I’ve been (mostly) wrong the whole time.

My main criticism was always that it’s ridiculously unrestrained, throwing literally any and everything at the wall from aliens to death incarnate to satan and nazis. Yet it weirdly almost all works (didn’t care for the Santa killer bit straight filler) this time around I found it wildly entertaining and fascinating to some degree for those same reasons. I was genuinely interested to see where s*** would go next.

There’s a lot of super dark stuff going on that the show didn’t pull back on at all yet it’s also almost painfully campy in a lynchian/ rod sterling sense for some moments as well. Some of the episodes were also shot really cool and unconventionally for a tv show, my only gripe on that end is the editing is annoying as s*** none of the cool s*** lingered for long.

Lana goes through so much horror for the majority of the show you forget why she’s such a hatable character until the end again. All the regulars were on their A game but I will say Jessica Lange’s accent was cracking me up bc it was kinda inconsistent

Excited to start Coven I haven’t seen it since it aired but i remember thinking it was a top 3 season for me in general and I liked asylum so much that I’m even more excited for coven @Echiham

Not hyped for freak show tho..

I treat Freak Show like the “vibes” season. I love the environment it had, everything else I don’t really care about so much

I got like 2 eps in if that and turned that s*** off back in the day

I heard it gets good towards the end but I guess we’ll see
