    New findings in Scientific American show that ‘personality’ can change from day to day, hour to hour - and finally - we have the clear evidence and admission that everything from ‘introversion’ to ‘anxiety’ is caused by external stressors and not some innate quality or character.

    Are we seeing an end to personality pathologisation this generation?

    person = individual , ality = reality
    can a person's reality change constantly and is a variable? I believe so

  • Apr 10, 2023

    i don't think its possible. Your personality is a result of every experience and every single interaction you ever had.

    The concept of a single stable personality throughout the course of one's life is pretty fallacious, even big 5 personality tests are unreliable and subject to change from a person's teens to their 40s

    Butttt that is different from a "personality disorder" like narcissism, borderline or anti-social bc these people don't have a stable sense of self along with a wildly altering personality

    What about people diagnosed with DSM-5 disorders?

    Personally feel like the DSM-5 needs to be redefined to some degree. There's a mass hysteria going on with people trying to over-diagnose themselves with extremely rare mental disorders.

    All thanks to people heavily glorifying or making them part of their primary identity on social media, or they want something to blame their characteristic flaws on. Actually it’s insulting all around

    Never understood why this became a thing? Probably due to being locked up inside during COVID? Also victimization culture is at its peak right now.
