I blame the whites for gassing up that dog s*** ambient flute album. Stacks is never going back to releasing actual songs.
The fact he got an AOTY nom out of that is really insane
Oooh.
7 piano sketches
warning: no bars
These piano sketches are improvisations. To conjure them up, I spread my fingers out on the keys and randomly but with purpose move them around until I find something that feels good or interesting. If it feels really good I will try to repeat it. I cannot name which notes, keys or chords that Iâm playing. I simply like the sound and mechanics of piano playing. Some of my favorite piano music composers and players that inspire me are Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Philip Glass, Stephen Sondheim, Joni Mitchell and Vince Guaraldi.
These piano pieces werenât recorded with the intention of presenting them in any formal way to the public. They were personal, at home recordings. I would sometimes text them to my family and friends.
Pardon the sound quality, they were all recorded with my iPhone sitting directly on the piano or my laptop microphone with the exception of âBlueberriesâ. (recorded in studio)
Most of these were recorded in Texas. The house my son and I were renting had no furniture at all. Only a piano, our beds and tv screens.
This collection of songs was recorded almost a decade before New Blue Sun. The original title for it was âThe Best Worst Rap Album In Historyâ and here is an excerpt from the original liner notes.
âItâs jokingly the worst rap album in history because there are no lyrics on it at all. Itâs the best because itâs the free-est emotionally and best Iâve felt personally. Itâs the best because itâs like a palette cleanser for me.â

Y'all complain too f***in much man.
The guy arguably has the greatest discography in rap history. Pushed the genre forward in ways only a select few have. If he doesn't feel like he has any more to give hip-hop, so be it. His decision to make.
If you don't resonate with this kind of music, just keep it pushing. Not that serious at all.
Andre 3000 has the best discography in rap history? I must have missed that. He only has a flute album.
Outkast has one of the greatest discographies and changed the genre. Not Andre 3000. Outkast. Yall need to get that right. Mentioning any accomplishment of Andre without saying Big Boiâs name in the same breath is a crime.
he can do whatever he wants at this point but music press / marketing needs to be honest
this is not amazing music, not terrible, and if it was a non-famous bandcamp artist nobody would be paying attention, even within the ambient music scene
its admirable and we should support him learning and experimenting
pretending these albums are instant classics, nominating them for grammies, organising listening parties in art galleries, etc. is not actually constructive to doing that
this is not andre 3k's fault btw i guarantee you he is completely humble and honest that he is still learning
That's not the way this works, though, is it? People in this thread are only upset that this is a new Andre 3000 release and it's not rap. So, inversely, it's really daring and exciting that a guy like Andre is releasing an album so vastly different from his other music under the same stage name he's released some of the biggest songs in the history of pop music.
Also I think the new blue sun album is actually gas, too. I listen to a good amount of ambient jazz or whatever and I think the album is hard.
I loved Me&My from 2018, that showed me he doesn't need to be rapping but I would love some vocals

Yea I do kinda feel like that song even instrumentally works a lot better as a song than a lot of this does
This is good
i hope he never find that blue notebook
s*** prolly donât even got any raps in it
Keep it a bean. The titles at the beginning and the titles themselves is kinda trying to hard to be different
AlsoâŠ.that ant song was like 30 seconds long
title was longer than the song

Well itâs a demo album
Love me a piano thanks Dre

Stupid gif not working
it just says âthatâs trueâ

haven't heard this yet but I wouldn't doubt it cause that song is fantastic
shoutout to him for feeling free expressing himself but this is kinda just random bs. and not in a good creative way unfortunately
wow i can finally listen to this cdq

Everyone in here is s***ting on him just cuz he's not dropping a rap record or a pop record or whatever the f***. Just dismissive and lame for a guy who's given music so much.
To me, New Blue Sun was a really cool record. I went to the show and it was a really special experience. There's a lot of beauty in that genre of music... the inventiveness and delicacy of it is pretty fly honestly.
Nah itâs not that at all
Itâs just pretty disgraceful and embarrassing that this is the level of s*** he puts out
I would LOVE an Andre instrumental album
If he actually learned an instrument.
But he doesnât. He just proudly says âI donât know what notes are, I donât know how to play, but Iâm going to play some random stuff and sell it anywayâ
Thatâs the problem. Not the genre. He just doesnât care enough or respect his audience enough to actually put any amount of work in.
If Andre made an actual jazz flute album or jazz piano album Iâd be all in. But heâs not even playing the instruments fam heâs just f***ing around
