Even the advertising for this is disconnected
For all the respect he gets, he doesn't really immerse himself culturally
Idk, I'm starting to have second thoughts about this and starting to view him similarly to Badu
Don't know if this been posted
https://twitter.com/Phil_Lewis_/status/1725150040526663810It's because he took himself out of the culture. It's becoming more apparent what that disconnect I feel from him is
andre is always been strange dude in a good way , but it is hard not to think that he did a perfect troll with this album
what i love about andre is that he is really honest and part when he said that he dosent know what he would rap about , my mind is blown :D

There's a podcast he did with Rick Rubin where he said that he was struggling himself to listen to music with lyrics as he felt that the lyrics were "bombarding him" so he's obviously isn't trolling
Kinda chilled out on vinyl, I got an LP from most of my favs but f*** is this a once in a lifetime type deal
I think I should cop Quaranta before this because Danny has struggled with album debt before

I mean.. he seems at peace though. Maybe that’s the point
That's...kinda disappointing to hear from someone like him. Life nigga. Rap about life. Your thoughts, travels, people you've spoken to and their stories. S***, stories about different walks of life. Nigga be traveling the world randomly playing flutes in bus stations and convenience stores meeting people and seeing things. You ain't get nothing to rap about from that?
Not to rag on him too much because ultimately making a jazz album is still interesting. But when he's made himself known as a great lyricist and storyteller, and has a number of creative/well thought out stream of conscious raps, it's kinda bizarre to hear him say he'd only be rapping about getting older.
I don't think he needed to explain why these no rap on this album. Really could've just said "I wanted to play this flute nigga" and left it at that lol
It’s nice that he shared his insight lol why are you upset with that?
I don't have time to listen to the whole album right now but the first track is pretty nice, I'm impressed
That Night In Hawaii When I Turned Into A Panther And Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn't Control ... Sh¥t Was Wild

Disappointed =/= upset

if you listen to the interview from NPR or watch the GQ interview in full, the whole thing really puts things into perspective for you

I listened to it and ultimately it just goes back to him simply wanting to make a flute/jazz album. That's totally fine. He's always been this kinda artist to do/make whatever with little rhyme or reason. Just not sure what makes this different that requires the kinda explanation he gave.

i think it's to set the record straight for the outsiders on where he's at rn: he's basically saying "imma do me and imma continue to do me and see where it goes" and i can't help but respect that...especially in the modern era where albums like this are becoming less and less appreciated by the masses. if anything, this could be the catalyst for something greater down the line if he builds up more creative juices lol...who the f*** knows yk?
