Yea man I love Q too which is crazy. My Intro to old school rap was boogie down productions so I was assuming I f*** with tribe heavy but they never clicked with me until recent like really recent.

what was it about their sound that didn't click with you? my gf absolutely hates their music , but she feels that way about the majority of old school hip-hop

I thought Tribe was "OK" at first, but I got into rap through 3 Feet High and Rising and Paul's Boutique so I wanted that kind of zany ass sample heavy production

Now though? Legit it's all I go back to when I want that kind of laid back sound. They're the best.

Ima assume it was timing. Like I think I’ve always liked them but they just wasn’t wat I wanted to hear at the time. Like I was really into grimey ass beats during this old school research. I had hit into bumping mobb deep. Nas. Kool G. Big L etc.

Once I came back around to playing alotta of my fav conscious and pro black artists like KRS. Paris and public enemy I stumbled back on tribe. Became In love with the production and s*** and started to really appreciate them.
