Illmatic is not better than The Love Below. It honestly ain’t even Nas’s best album

He’s definitely one of the Goats. I know there’s no solo album but he’s certainly got enough of a catalogue in my mind to fairly rate between OutKast discography and features. For me there’s only maybe a handful of guys I prefer listening to than him.

If you really want to try and rank rappers then yeah, the lack of longevity and solo work has to drop him down. But I think at a certain level it’s a little ridiculous to try and definitively rank music so I don’t really care.

He’s one of mine. He was phenomenal on all the OutKast projects and his first solo is amazing. His last 2 solo projects aren’t that great overall but there’s obviously some awesome songs and whatever, he’s old now. But I don’t think there aren’t 20 people I like listening to rap over Big Boi.

3K and Big Boi are like the Brady and Belichick of the rap game. Internet haters have this weird obsession that only one of them can really be a GOAT and had to have carried the other. Instead of acknowledging the obvious fact that they're both GOATs and that's why they dominated their crafts together like few have done in either category.

Being GOAT is about more then music

Nas is very good at rapping, but after Illmatic/IWW(with some exceptions) his storytelling can be lifeless. Admittedly, the fact that he is telling a story at all as opposed to just rapping can be impressionable, so it makes sense why some hip hop purist might enjoy Nas over Andre.

I always look to their verses on Ross' God Forgive, I Don't, as a comparison of how they approach a similar matter:

"I remember watching Scarface the first time,
Look at that big house, that Porsche paid for by crime.
How could I sell this poison to my peoples in my mind?
They dumb and destroy themselves is how I rationalize"

vs

"She yelling that selling’s a sin, well so is telling young men
That selling is a sin, if you don’t offer new ways to win

This is incredibly specific, I know. And some will pick the Nas lines over Andre's. But Andre's take took so much more foresight, and understanding of the situation that pushes a young man to sell d****. Nas does it, but its pretty clear its about getting ahead, as opposed to survival. I like Andre's story more.
