The Day the Laughter Died is a comedy double album by American comedian Andrew Dice Clay, released in 1990. It was produced by Rick Rubin, whose concept was to record an unadvertised performance in a small club with a small crowd, many of whom would not necessarily be fans of Clay's act.

Dice Clay is single-handedly responsible for sensitivity culture today. I don’t think anyone under 45 will truly understand

Bruh, he was selling out arenas with jokes about completely offensive s***. No irony like Louis CK. That’s a different breed and we haven’t seen anything close since.

Sorry, I misread your original comment so I deleted mine. But I still do believe a new act can come along and pull this off, at some point, and if they're talented enough.

If anything, I can see a specific group of people claiming to like it just for the shock value. But I think it has more potential than that. It would be refreshing to a lot of people who can handle the nuances, after being forced to live in the social climate we've been in for so many years now.

But ultimately I don't know. Either way, we can thankfully go back and listen to the OG s*** like this.

I mean, it’s a Jewish guy doing a caricature of an Italian, so it’s not completely irony-free.

Larry the Cable Guy might have been the last time we saw a Dice-esque act, where a guy rode an offensive character to the moon like that.
