My favorite shot/transition has to be the one where she is having the threesome then the bed turns into Niagara Falls. That was a trip
a lot of sweet shot/transitions 🎯🎯🎯
Speaking of Niagara, the film is leaving the Criterion Channel tomorrow if anyone was interested in seeing it.
do the fire walk with me comparisons make any sense?
Eh...this is def much closer to what Pablo Larraín did with Jackie and Spencer (if he focused on full life instead) than something like FWWM.
It's kinda hard to answer this also cus Laura was def inspired by Marilyn so there's gonna be some natural parallels. Wouldn't go into this expecting anything like Lynch tho
need somebody to take the scene where they show the sperm then the fetus and add the part from Baby Boy where Tyrese was the fetus at the end of that.

Why does this from the soundtrack sound so much like that one bit of twin peaks music
borderline rip off

I mentioned this in my review. Nick Cave seemed to do this deliberately as an echo of Laura Palmer.

I respect how you don’t give grades. I’m too corrupted, I have a compulsive need to categorize and sort my emotions on art.

My problem with doing scores is they contradict constantly. I can’t break it down into a consistent science so it feels pointless.
I didn’t love it. But I LOVED the technical and stylistic aspects of this film. Ana was incredible in the role.
But this was super dark and depressing. Andrew made some CHOICES for sure (JFK scene and the talking fetus scene for sure). The depiction of Marilyn as a woman with daddy issues through the whole film kind of got overbearing. It’s like that’s what controlled her life and her choices. Maybe that’s the case but I wasn’t big on how it was portrayed. I did like how they portrayed her caring for her mother after what happened.
I know this is a piece of historical fiction so I took it as that. But I didn’t come out head over heels with this like I may have thought I would. It’s not BAD like some are saying but it’s far from Dominik’s best imo
I don’t think I’d jump at the bits to rewatch but I am glad I saw it.

couldn't agree more my brother
Feel like it was only rated NC 17 to get attention and notoriety, nowhere near showgirls, felt like your average rated R movie
@grimes u seen this yet?
