Easily one of the best, if not the best, from the previous gen and it’ll be dearly missed

How old were yall when you first read berserk? I think I was 13-15 then I read it again in my early 20s because I obviously didn't understand it besides cool swords and killing
Maybe 19-20. Can’t really remember tbh. Definitely not as a teen though

It's going to be unbearable. But, I read some of the manga and it's actually really good thus far. The story is about two best friends who are DIRT poor with no parental guidance at all just trying to navigate through their f***ed up lives. It's funny, shocking and tragic at times.

You can have a good show/manga with a s*** fanbase. I've seen it happen multiple times I'll prolly peep it tho
akane banashi felt pre digested and focus group tested
Have you read the manga

nope
I think it starts getting interesting with the karaku cup and gets amazing a bit later than that so i get where you're coming from, but when it starts picking up it never stops, reminds me of the best sports manga in a sense with how exciting it gets to watch all the later competitions and how much you root for the characters to get better at rakugo. I Guess you also need to have some interest in rakugo, or at least storytelling, cause rakugo itself isnt that exciting generally. Only showa genroku rakugo shinju managed to be more gripping but that was more a product of the drama outside of the rakugo itself

i've had showa genroku on my watchlist for a while, i'd probably like that version of a rakugo anime more. i think the shonen sports formula that was applied in akane banashi is why it felt regurgitated to me. that formula works and i enjoy it when it's applied to traditional sports, but i guess for something rooted in cultural tradition and history i prefer a more "mature" (idk what else to call it) structure
