wildi watched the anime (even though they didn't finish it) and read the entire manga
never played the visual novel though
i've also watched higurashi
love them
I have read the VN for both but haven't watched the anime so not sure how that fares, the VNs are insanely long though (like 90+ hours long) so I find it hard to believe that the animes are good adaptations
I don't usually like to recommend media that is absurdly long but I would say reading Umineko is worth it (sounds like you already read it though), the absurd family drama and just trying to uncover the mystery of what the f*** happened in that island is entertaining asf. Also has an insane amount of original music to go along with it

the anime was just alright but gets a lot of hate because it was missing a lot of stuff
umineko is definitely worth checking out for anyone into mystery
