Yeah ngl maomao had me looking at her a bit differently after this ep. I get that it’s in character (considering she was raised in the Verdigris house), but still, her coldheartedness caught me a bit off guard.

i actually like that they showed the reality of living in those times, i was just being cheeky. being a courtesan isn’t the best option but it’s certainly better than being a beggar and being stuck in a house with an abusive drunk father. maomao can’t and shouldn’t be able to give everyone a happy ending, that’s just life
