the panel im talking about happens on chapter 50 and the research one happens on chapter 21. and before that he talks about how he likes it when real elements of japan are included in mangas.

it def wasnt that serious. it just struck me as odd while doing my first read of the manga considering how the writer does his extra panels at the end full of information that he and his editor included

I’ll check this when I get the chance, but I’m not really put off at all by Mahito (I think this is who you mean) saying that. Just because Japan has low crime doesn’t mean that people living there can’t have a poor opinion of humans (and Mahito is literally a being created from the negative thoughts/emotions of humans).

This below might be a spoiler not sure so click at your own risk.

Mahito is created from the negative energy of conflict/hatred between humans, so it makes even more sense that he’d say something like that imo. Perhaps this hasn’t been explained yet by chapter 49.
