Final thoughts about Lycoris Recoil

Is it over? I wonder if they'll try to make a sequel

Anyway the highlight is Takina & Chisato's relationship, would've been perfect if it was mostly focused on that dynamic and continued with the buddy cop, slice of life, episodic route

From the beginning it planned an overarching story about the Lycoris, the terrorists and Alan program so it didn't come out of nowhere, but it was a tone shift that I was a little disappointed in

They made Chisato to be this perfect character who is the strongest and always smiling like she's a super hero, would've preferred if they showed she's human and let her grow and develop like they did with Takina

I'm also not satisfied with the ending just being the world goes back to normal... it raised a question whether the Lycoris is morally a good thing but it doesn't matter because nothing changed, so not a big fan of this conclusion

Off the strength of the early episodes, characters (just the LycoReco group and Majima) and animation I give it 8/10, had they dropped the overarching plot and instead made it a romance story it would've been one of my favorite anime ever but it's not

Watched kumo no mukou the other night and loved the visuals/art design. The story itself was pretty okay, it did a good job building tension when it needed too with what was going on. Also just a heads up it has nothing to do with people playing the violin but a great looking movie either way. Even more hype for suzume now

Need to watch this soon. Favorite Shinkai movies are Garden of Words and 5cm per second
