There is no way you read the entire story of Naruto and don't think that the Ootsuki and existence of Shinjutsu is not super out of place and world breaking.

I think it was nice they provided an explanation that wasn’t hurr durr chakra at the end of the series and all they’re doing is building on that concept

Not everything needs an explanation though, especially something as basic to the Naruto universe as chakra. Like it's an anime chakra being explained as just being the life energy everyone is born with is perfectly fine

The Ootsuki are so far out of left field and the backstory/explanation doesn't really do much but make the backstory/lore of Naruto worse IMO. It was way better off when the explanation was that chakra/control the shinobi world as they know it in Naruto resulted from the Sage of Six Paths unraveling the mystery of controlling this energy everyone held (chakra) and not chakra being the result of aliens coming to drain the earth of it's resources
