Ok guys I’m finally at Clannad After Story…
Clannad was nice and fun slice of life with some romance but now we get to the anime that everyone says made them cry…
Just thinking about it makes me feel some type of way
But don't be like.... oh this better make me cry like everyone says because it's not guaranteed...
What's important about this arc is the character's progression especially Tomoya's, and most of the emotional moments didn't make me cry they just made me think... it's things any of us could go through so it's relatable and it hits hard
finished FMAB a few hours ago, loved it
idk for certain, but i’m pretty sure that’s the first anime/manga i’ve seen written by a female mangaka
started Sword Art Online shortly after finishing FMAB, but i’m thinking i should look into more series written by women when i finish this. i appreciated the lack of physics-defying fanservice jiggles in FMAB.
If you want recommendation for anime/manga written by women:
Mushishi
InuYasha
Toradora
A Silent Voice
Fruits Basket
Chihayafuru
Ouran high school host club
March Comes in like a lion (should be good haven't seen it)
All recommended and different from each other
there is a subset of people in this thread that believe they are too good for big 3 shounen type shows
spy family will probably be up there when the season is officially over
sao is dogshit im glad people dont have a boner for it in this thread like they do for DITF
To be fair DITF is funnier than SAO
does certain parts of an anime being rendered in 3D instead of drawn in 2D affect your opinion on the anime? if so, positively or negatively? asking anyone in general. i’ve seen people call it cheap/lazy, but i’ve also seen people praise it when done well.
I dislike it but it's in every big anime today
I like the drawn feel (not computer animated) but they took short cuts in the past too so it really depends on the studio / effort the team is going to make

yea DITF is funnier but SAO actually has more well written parts as a whole tbh, which isn't exactly a fair comparison because SAO has like 7~ cours of episodes to pull from whereas DITF only got 2, but still

I think SAO can be more endearing than DITF which is just forced nonsense and petty drama. But Kirito has no personality just like Hiro, and SAO has this thing where in every arc (except for the movie maybe), the middle is just boring and nothing happens and at least DITF had the teenage drama and cool fights and titties.

Witch Hat Atelier written by a woman.
Gorgeous art, no fanservice and has black people in it that don't look like caricatures, would def rec.
An anime is being made rn, so you could wait on that

a manga where the black people aren’t drawn as caricatures? i hate that that’s a rare occurrence. i’ll add it to my list.
It's a s***show but I still enjoyed it
I loved the first season but it seemed like they got away from the general plot in the second which took away from it for me

Lol don’t worry I’m not going in there expecting to bawl my eyes out. I’m invested in the characters now so I already know that when things get serious… it gonna hit
Only anime that’s ever made me actually cry is run with the wind. But there’s been a few that have HIT HIT like Welcome to the NHK

NHK made me feel depressed for sure
Evangelion hit sometimes too
And A Silent Voice (the manga is crazy)

Nothing wrong with CGI if done competently. CGI only detracts from an anime if it's stiff or if it doesn't blend in well. Children of the Sea is one of the best looking movies of all time and it makes very heavy use of CGI, but it had an amazing compositing team that made the blend of CGI with traditional animation feel like the most natural thing in the world.

Eva does a decent job blending it into the art style of their movies. Mappa did a mediocre job with S4P1, but they improved their work a lot with P2.
I only hate it when anime companies are lazy af and 3d animation looks like it was dragged and dropped into the show.

I cried watching Clannad, Violet Evergarden, and (surprisingly) Devilman Crybaby
