    OP of the year

if Uma Musume S2 had this type of animation it woulda been my favourite anime of all time. The cut starting at 1:05 is insane

Welp, it was a Shinkai movie. Decent at best, and I wish the main characters had more personality, the supporting characters are frankly better. The story was pretty decent but got repetitive in the middle. Nothing in the movie really blew me away but there was a lot of good talent on display. The 3d backgrounds looked especially nice, and the voice acting was all good.

There was a climax during the middle portion of the movie and past that point the pacing couldā€™ve been a lot better. A new character introduced in the middle does a lot to not make everything feel stale, cause the niece and aunt conflict feels so superficial.

This movie makes a couple references to Miyazaki movies, ones a Whisper of The Heart tweet and the second is Kikiā€™s Delivery Service (a song that plays in the beginning of the Kiki film, could be wrong)

The male lead Souta, had the typical long hair love interest look which feels played out this point cough Howl like we have been here before. He had a lot more personality when heā€™s a chair, though thatā€™s probably intentional.

And since you guys know I love animation, the animation was pretty solid. There was a s*** ton of movement in the movie and keeping that consistent was probably rough

As for animators I could identify, Bahi JD was pretty noticeable at the start of the film. Two Toei adjacent animators, Chikashi Kubota and Yuki Hiyashi were credited but I didnā€™t notice them they were probably in the finale. Hidetsugu Itoā€™s scenes were spectacular and epic as ever. Hirofumi Matsuda was somewhere in the movie. Web Gen animators Moaang and Kerorira were placed on a few cuts, and also Keisuke Kobayashi probably did the most life like cuts in some parts and they looked great. Akira Homna was probably also taking up the slack of the more movement heavy character acting.

Legendary freelancer Hiroyuki Aoyama was involved, and I believe he did some rotation cuts. Takafumi Hori who I covered recently was somewhere in the movie though I couldnā€™t tell.

Lastly I gotta praise Ei Inoue, Minoru Ohashi, Naomi Kobayashi, and Takayo Nishimuraā€™s animation direction. Inoue is an expected face considering she has been on every big movie,

I thought i saw Toshiyuki Inoue in the movie, as some running cuts looked like him though he wasnā€™t credited
