A series cutting its premise way too short in to just five episodes, and having way too many interesting things to not be a twelve episode, two season series. Here we can see Nishio’s more rounded approach for designs juxtaposing against gruesome horrific violence. This show boasts some of Nishio’s most refined animation direction, and great storyboarding by Makihara.

Jun 24, 2023Carmen is ComposedShortly after Ninku ending, Nishio would primarily animate OPs for the next few years such as Virtua Fighter, Midori no Makibao. Kare Kano was a fairly important one as we begin to see Nishio implementing his sketchy art style.
