Do you feel this way with other mediums
Do you feel this way with other mediums
If it is a visual medium I expect it to be interesting to look at. Bonus points in particular if its unique aspect is its best point. Like animation for anime or panelling for manga. I expect live action to be interesting to look at too, whether thats TV/movies/stage plays/concerts.
If its something like a book then its main presentation of information is done through written word so I expect interesting prose that doesn't make me feel like I'm reading a university textbook.
While Hashimoto might have been doing more non credited work it is impressive how fast and significantly he was improving as an animator, this would lead him to be hired on the OP of then Urusei Yatsura director Mamoru Oshii’s Mobile Police Patlabor series

Only four other animators were credited here being future Production IG director Hiroyuki Kitakubo, future softcore character designer Takahiro Kishida, and lastly Hiroki Goda who was a mecha animator at the time. Hashimoto recalls this scene vividly by animating Noa’s big “mickey mouse sized gloves”. It is a really cute display of character acting filled with perfect 80s tomboy bishoujo.
Patlabor
Going back to Tanabe, Hashimoto and Ohira were both asked to Isao Takahata’s fourth movie for Studio Ghibli My Neighbors The Yamadas
An adorable slice of life romp, that once again pushed Takahata’s style more in the direction of Tanabe’s work on Junkers. While this was a very unambitious adventure animation wise for Ohira and Hashimoto, it did give way to Takahata’s final film later on. This movie looks fairly simple on paper, but there is some impressive animation https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/161014 https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/161012 https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/161011 courtesy of Ghibli’s talented in house animators. Despite that Ohira and Hashimoto both did fairly simple scenes https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/16003 https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/161049
damn this quality really caught me off guard

HOLY S***
Jesus christ Frieren has 8 pages on Sakugabooru already. No way they manage to keep this up for 2 cours.

If the director and producers have good connections maybe, but you’re right it is doubtful

Doubtful, but if there is anyone that can pull this off, Saito and FukushiP would be near the top of my list of candidates.
Matsuura and Konno holy s***. Former Shaft staff continue to drop bangers. A world where Shaft actually retained all its talent would have been legendary.
Im kinda scared to start frieren since it jusr seems so sad 😭
