2020, we return to more KA on Brand New Animal Yoshinari’s second series.

Sushio was able to get a more nominal amount of animation opportunities, Episode 1 has one of his more memorable fight scenes from this era, shaded in red and dark wall blues. He seldom appears throughout the show, and remained as a supporting staff through the remainder of the series

The last Evangelion film had a rough time coming out the door, so the big three Yoshinari, Imaishi, Sushio, with help from Ichigo Kanno, and Ikarashi helped out during the final battle of the film

The boys got this pretty gnarly fight scene in the middle, Sushio wasn’t involved but its worth noting due to all the Trigger-isms standing out

Sushio himself handled a few exchange words with Shinji and Gendo, and then closes out with the scene that ends all Evangelions a scene with magnificent sequencing.

unfortunately Sushio’s rainbow blood was cut from this scene, for reasons we don’t know.

After helping out on SSSS Dynazenon, Sushio lent his hand on Star Wars Visions

Several anime studios were asked on to this anthology project Science Saru, Geno Studio (like Trigger coming from Gainax, Geno was born out of Manglobe dying), Production IG, Kimetra Citrus, Studio Colorido, and Kamikaze Douga (a 3D studio). Trigger was one of the six brought on spurring two shorts, “The Elder” directed by Otsuka, and “The Twins” directed by Imaishi. Once again Koyama on designs pretty much doing the exact same aesthetic from Promare, which is just Sushio, but bishonen.

Sushio personally AD’d this entire section with a lot of his art brimming through, brought to life by Kanno, Ikarashi, and Akihiro Sato who had newly come off of being an in-betweener on Gridman, soon to possibly become Trigger’s next star animator. Imaishi Trigger-fied Star Wars even making this homage to The Last Jedi be more like a Trigger thing

Once Cyberpunk:Edgerunners finished Sushio was able to turn in some nice henshin and henkei sakuga on Gridman Universe released early this year in March

A genius crossover between the two series, that is also Amemiya’s debut as a movie director. I have not seen this movie yet, but since this is anime they are not afraid to spoil stuff (even for myself). Sushio assists with Kerib and Akane’s transformations during the midway point of the film good s***

Well that is Sushio, so far. His career is far from over and as one of the head honchos at Trigger he is a legend along with all of the others. Sushio has always had this kind of dark horse of the Trigger and Gainax crews. His style has been something that was molded in an era of innovation, drawing influence from his contemporaries more so than his idols, though Hisashi Mori is still a factor in that. Whereas Imaishi is consistently silly and playful in style, Yoshinari is blossoming and beautiful, Sushio ranges from being able to manage dirty tooth and nail masculinity, but also some very sweet bishoujo and softer traits that illustrate both of his talents. From earth shattering explosions, to comedic character acting Sushio is the adventurous friend within the Trigger ecosystem.
