After years of planning, and supporting Takeshi Koike through what would soon be his creative period, Kawajiri released a 2000 adaptation of the third novel of Vampire Hunter D titled Demon Deathchase by Hideyuki Kikuchi, cutting into a full length movie called Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Without a doubt Kawajiriās crown jewel of animation. Through a darkened fantasy lens, chiefly matching magical spiritual phenomena to real world gore, mixing the two with a sprinkle of atmosphere. This film unlike his previous work feels less focused on the raw edge of every scene and more on the perfectly and highly detailed character designs and background drawings. I have scene few handrawn movies outside of Ghibli, able to achieve such a consistent and high tier level of animation direction for what are super difficult character designs, with a lot of highlights, shading, and line work. Once again Yutaka Minowa is on AD direction and designs, and Hiroshi Hamasaki, along with Hisashi Abe on AD who had been another long time animator at the studio. For background design Ikehata fell into the role delivering his best work.
idk that's super subjective but it is my favorite
if u like reading something and then feeling like s*** then go head and give it a shot
Done, I read it. What a rollercoaster! Sure, it had some intense moments, but I found it much tamer than "Blood on the Tracks" (and overall a more enjoyable experience).

yea blood on the tracks is just psychological torture tbh but its so good u cant look away lol
im glad u enjoyed it man did u prefer the first half or the second?
a lot of fans seem to enjoy his adventures with nakamura the most but personally the 2nd half was the highlight of it all for me. kasuga growing out of his shell, his past, mending his relationship with his parents, and meeting aya. it really felt like i was watching him grow and mature, s\*\*\* was beautiful ngl. the one thing i will say is that the ending and how it all tied back to nakamura was lukewarm and their re-connection didn't really have the impact i felt like it needed to have. that's one thing oshimi does consistently and it's a failure to deliver and close out the stories he writes.
what was the point of that jjk ep outside of putting miyajima on my radar of interesting future directors
dumping last minute backstory before the death of a character is boring and bad writing to try and cover for the fact that the author completely forgot to develop the character. it actually kinda blows my mind that people fall for it and think its the saddest thing ever
Why tf has Shield Hero pivoted into this furry angle
From the show that said slavery = secretly good? This is tame
nothing too special here, but I wish to see more synthesizing of western and eastern sensibilities working in close tandem for an original story in future animated media
also cool to see Shuhei Handa

Gege does the flashback aspect pretty well and keeps them engaging for this series compared to other Shonen shows. Plus Nobara was a pretty established part of the trio for people to care about her.

Bad take but go off
Outside of me fully disagreeing it also helped the pacing for me as well given everything that just happened . A lot of parallels that tie into her current motives and consistent character traits. Plus a good smile and appreciation for totality of her life . If they would have just did the thing without the flashback i legit wouldnāt have cared because the pacing of it would have been too abrupt

Compared to other anime series, when you put it like that
I hope Hironori Tanaka is directing a JJK episode this season, feel like he could modify to his early style now given the flexibility of the show's look now
Back on the anime grind a bit. Nothing interesting me as right now. So I decided to watch Shin chan, itās my favorite childhood show, and I wanted to finish this time around. Right now Iām doing marathon of it. Iām enjoying every minute of the episode.

You can argue that you dont care about the backstory and it didnt interest you but I dont see the significant difference between dropping the story in the middle of the character arc or before their death really. If you wont care for it before the death you also wouldnt have cared for it somewhere along in the story.
And to nobara I would say it was well executed. We already knew most of it or atleast have gotten the gist of what her character is about well before this episode. Besides minor details there wasnt anything new to her character except her final realization that altho she didnt let people in, the Jujutsu High students simply brought their own seats in her life

Wow, I feel the exact same. The second half was my favorite too; the whole thing with Tokiwa had me so invested that I just couldn't stop reading. The panel where Kasuga finds himself and tells his parents, "I'm home!" was hard-hitting. Overall, the conclusion to Kasuga's arc was very satisfying, but I too feel like the dynamic with Nakamura felt somewhat underexplored by the end. I really liked the last chapter, though, where we see her POV of the world. Obviously, she was a very troubled and problematic character, but seeing her mental state materialize like that did elicit compassion from me.
JJK potential new episode spoilers
Honestly canāt believe yall are going this hard for Nobara, she was such a nothing character with minimal screen-time and I feel like the only reason she gets this much praise is cause the bar for characters in shonen is at the f\*\*\*ing floor
Idk how people rationalize a show using 15 of 18 minutes to show backstory of a character that was condemned for death in the first 2 minutes of the episode?
The entire episode was pretty much a complete waste of time. The entire flashback also added nothing to her character or conclusion.

A lot of people reacted emotionally, not because Nobara was a super complex, deeply explored character, but because of the circumstances of her death (I mean, the way Yuji's va screamed "Run Kugisaki!" gave me chills). I personally, in the past, have never really cared for her character, but this episode still made me teary-eyed simply because of how it was executed.

JJK
Real question but do you get teary eyed every time they show a flashback before a character dies? I donāt know how people arenāt immediately mentally exhausted seeing this s\*\*\* for the 100th time. Doing absolutely nothing with a character and then trying to salvage it during their very last moment is such a cheap way to leave a good impression of a character that the writer themselves never gave a f\*\*\* about. I complained about this exact same thing with Mikasa when the last AoT episode aired
The fact that you said yourself that you didnāt even care for her character until the cheap flashback is a problem and probably why they keep doing s\*\*\* like this.

Bruh, it wasn't because of the flashback. It was mainly because of how her death affects Yuji. Also, her accepting death and wanting Yuji to convey to their friends how she cherished them was a great moment. And all these things could exist without the flashback. The flashback merely amplified these sentiments.
