TranquilityFinished my Madoka re-watch in preparation for the new movie. Nine years ago I definitely didn't appreciate it as much as I do now. I don't even think I made a single mental note of its visuals back then, all I cared about at the time was plot lmao. God, that Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei --> Madoka Magicka --> Bakemonogatari run by Shaft was legendary.
If all the members of Shaft's golden age re-united to make an OVA of the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei manga ending I could 5 star it and retire from anime.

There was one scene in particular in the second or third labyrinth that wasnāt even that crazy compared to be rest of the show but it had my jaw on the floor smashing that rewind button

Gekidan Inu Curry's work on the witches and labyrinths was great. Madoka (and Bakemonogatari) benefited a lot from the fact that Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei was just an excuse for Shinbou and others to try a bunch of dumb stuff and see what works.
Their first work with Shaft was actually in the SZS openings, so Madoka got the much more refined version of their stuff three years later.

finished and not a fan of the way they wrapped this up. Around the climax i feel like it gets everywhere and from when they conclude it and everything that comes after was just a big "man what" moment for me. For the sake of comparison i enjoyed Flowers of Evil a bit more (realized it's the same author mid-read lol)
still a dope read, i love the buildup and the visuals. Lowkey felt like sum similar has happened in real life japan

Starting the Kyo Ani train this month watching Violet Evergarden

Although in regards to the latter I donāt know much about Munto
i feel like you could skip violet tv series and jump right to the eternity film and violet the film. the tv was more of an origin story but it didn't do great at explaining that detail and a lot of the time is spent on episodic stuff about various side/background chars and violet learning or relating through their stories
animation wise for kyoani i recommend the violet films (pretty much top form here). Maid Dragon & Nichijou (the animation has so much character) Hyouka (peak KA animation before Violet took that title). Euphonium got insane details and perhaps their best story but def check out the Liz film. It's Yamada's arthouse project
also they did a cool short not too long ago as promotion material for the studio i really love that one blog.sakugabooru.com/2019/08/23/bajas-studio
