Frieren: Beyond the Journey - 10/10

Finally watched this, fortunately the hype is real and it is that good. Very strong cast and writing (especially dialogue). I liked the short, casual plots as they travel between towns, the pacing was slow and right as it didn't lose me and helped develop the world and characters.

The first class mage exam, which is a bit more action packed than the earlier story, while it lost that peaceful quality for me it was cleverly written and put Frieren and Fern in a new environment with more great characters.

The theme of humanity is strong during the anime, Frieren starts off emotionally disconnected, while she's nonchalant all the way through she slowly starts embracing her humanity, acknowledging experiences from her journey with Himmel's group and we see new experiences and interactions slowly impact her. I like how Fern grounds her and the trust, respect, and strong bond between them.

You also have to mention the great animation and beautiful art style and landscapes during the anime, really gets you into the setting of medieval fantasy.

I'm normally not a fan of fantasy but I am a fan of characters. Frieren knows how to write them and make them memorable.

Adapting the entire manga is fantastic news tho it happens soo rarely to anime like this.

Pretty based for s***ting on shounen but also incredibly wrong about what shows get good animation so that post only gets half points.

Watched Dandadan's first episode. it's cool idk if I needed the rape scene, grossed me out but I guess that's the purpose. Everything else the animation and pacing was fun and vibrant. And the OP is killer. Will keep watching but I'll see how I feel about the shock value. I do like FLCL and Devilman and stuff like that.
