blue lock has garbage animation im not even sure why you mentioned that and berserk has proven to not be very successful from the three adaptations it got

Most western anime fans have nostalgia for the genre since its the usual entry point.

for an anime about soccer, the fact that a good portion of s1 even in the soccer scenes are mostly presented like a microsoft powerpoint is pretty bad

idk if you read dandadan but it really isnt all that tropey besides maybe the romance aspect about it, everything else has its own spin on it. like even berserk for example, is one of the best stories ever told but its drawn a lot of inspiration or flat out references from devilman and fist of the north star. it doesn't make the series any lesser or anything, artists just naturally take inspiration from other stuff.

Kinda the fault of the manga too since it doesnt actually have real football in it tbh

funny part about blue lock is apparently the animation is even worse in s2 at least from the clip ive seen around

i never seen blue period so i cant really speak on it but i still think its worth mentioning blue locks animation cos i dont really think the show looks all that good or could possibly look that much better than that show with how bad it already is

to the point about dandadan and uzumaki, i mean yeah the series more geared toward younger audience is probably gonna get more love than something like uzumaki cos its guaranteed to gain an audience / make a profit. its why a lot of seinen series dont have or get good adaptations. sad they dont both get the same treatment but it kinda just is what it is.

another thing is with how detailed uzumaki or any of junji ito art is for that matter, i dont think an anime would probably do any of that justice lol.

95% of anime/manga is hot garbage, not just shonen.
