It's not that bad, cmon now
I think a mixture of a mediocre to decent adaptation, the manga being unknown to the west and not being heavily pushed by netflix didnt do the show any favors. I feel it will get its flowers like 5 years from now. Im just happy i watched it, will follow the author's next works for sure
Mediocre adaption? Everything about the anime elevates the source material. The art is aight in the manga
I guess i should clarify. When i think of great adaptations, those that either elevate the source material in every way or translate it into animation by fully using all the qualities of the medium that the source material doesnt have, shows like ranking of kings, heavenly delusion, ping pong, bocchi, dragon maid, mob psycho come to mind, just to name a few.
Imo orb falls more in the vinland saga s2, dorohedoro, pluto, komi san. Perfectly serviceable adaptations that do their job, nail the big moments and are generally a good way to experience that story. But they never wow me, and they're carried mostly by the story itself and the voice actors. I will say that kensuke ushio's ost is stellar tho.
I love this story and im glad the anime was made because it put it on my radar, so i dont want to come off as a hater, if anything i think the story is so good it deserved a better staff and a better studio, that's all.
Think Junichi Suwabe might by one of my fav VA's I just like how his voice sounds plus he voices cool chars ; Sukuna/Grimmjow/Barou/Usui/Archer
Side note top 3 roms of the season rn:
I might be sleeping on work crush still gotta catch up
Still no news on fate/strange episode 2?
why did they even release episode 1 just to not have a complete product months later lmao
Almost halfway through season 1 of Vinland Saga. I'm mad that I don't love this. S*** just not grabbing me

It's not even just the slowness: I can handle a slow burn with characters I'm invested in but these niggas are just blending into each other pause

That's the vibe I got from the first episode

I was immediately drawn into the story, but I have to admit - Thorfinn was kinda aggravating at first. However, the finale takes an intriguing turn, and the following season delves deeply into his internal conflict, making his characterization in S1 more understandable in retrospect. I’d recommend finishing S1 before deciding whether to continue.
