nononononono the opposite, i was just sketched out about the naked children flogging and heard some apparently conflicting info so i stopped watching but ppl itt said it wasn’t the case so i started again, on like ep 5 now

there is maybe one questionable pedo scene in the anime tbh but even then its played as a light hearted scene between kids

My theory for the disconnect is that in America, nudity = sexual. Compare American views on nudity to a bunch of other countries and you'll realize that people in other countries can actually understand context when it comes to nudity.

Nudity =/ Sexual, She like 12 years old and isn't aware that she supposed to cover herself, its clear cause she feels no shame whenever she takes her clothes off, all she concerned about is the abyss. When its not there to ease tension as a joke its just characterisation and reminder that this girl like 12 years old

theres literally no sexual tension between those two. Reg constantly uncomfortable with seeing Riko naked and the boy going through puberty. Scene was just there for humor and didn't even last long, if you seen that scene as sexual I think thats your issue bro

Regarding Made In Abyss, a good argument I once saw was someone comparing it to Eromanga Sensei

In Eromanga Sensei the main girl is 10. Ignoring the fact that series consistently sexualizes her by putting her in lingerie and revealing cloths, as well as making her s***obsessed; she’s clearly drawn to be sexualized even when fully clothed. She has curvy hips, and is drawn to be cute and attractive.

Despite Made In Abyss having some nudity in it, Riko isn’t particularly sexualized. They’re just scenes that happen to contain nudity. But nothing sexual is happening in them. And Riko In character design isn’t drawn to be sexual or attractive to people. So the scenes aren’t meant to be a turn on for the weirdos who’re just into that sort of thing(I’m sure some of them still find a way though)
