off topic but ive given up on tryna make ppl read/watch one piece

im on my 2nd year of watching gintama and im still on episode 154 even with covid and all of that time

edit: there was a truly lifeless time in my life id watch 30 eps a day everyday

One piece is more entertaining to go through than gintama tho imo

    I 100% agree with you

but whenever I open the gintama folder on my desktop I feel tired just by looking at the amount of episodes....cause I know not all of em are goin to be essential to the story or at least not repetitive

which is how a lot of people must feel about one piece.....I can write a 1000 essays with visuals from the anime and manga and provide meaningful breakdowns for even minor characters but at the end of the day who is goin to say ''1000+ episodes? well, that should be refreshing!''

or even 100...I still havent finished hajime no ippo and I know it will be one of my favs by the end of it

    on a darker note...

if hxh had one piece's pace it'd have more chapters, a bigger following and imo would probly be better

One piece manga is a breeze to go through imo, its definitely an essy read. If you dont fw the medium tho its tough luck, the anime not only is for the most part ugly but its also slow as f***

This i kinda agree with to a certain extent, hxh unlike one piece isnt a universal manga that speaks to all ages, i dont think kids would be intrigued by hxh as much as us, because its not as surface level as one piece (not a bad thing in any way of course). S*** like chimera ant would've scared them kids away lol, one piece has nothing like that. It would've been more successful than now for sure though, countless hiatus hurt its legs

so...let me explain how I consumed one piece to get how I feel about the medium

I watched the first episode all the way to baratie back in 2001-2002 as a kid

then a couple years before bleach ended I picked up the anime again, watched all the way to thriller bark, caught up and then started reading while occasionaly watching it on the sketchy sites available back then (watchonepiece.org and s*** like that)

it wasnt till I found onepace in 2017 that I REALLY got into the anime and started rewatching entire arcs and also got into the theory aspect of the series with the rise of youtube and I later discovered the colored manga which was the best thing ever to me cause it was everything i wanted from the anime but didnt get

then I found out mangaplus in 2018 was available in europe, which is legal and official with a set date and time for each chapter....since then the anime is what I watch while waiting for a new chapter (usually) on fridays and then read the chapters on viz on sundays

well it could've gotten a dedicated following just off great characters and world building (assuming the dark continent would be covered by now) like JoJo or CSM or AoT have

all of the above have some nasty s*** in em but young ppl nowadays, even kids, dont look the other way when they see something nasty...just give em something intriguing and meme worthy and they'll eat it up......I know that sounds horrible and degrading but oh well

Yeah it was basically the same for me too, although i caught up last year lol. One piece manga full colored is by far my favorite way to experience one piece, adds a lot to the cartoony style of op

It depends on what you consider as kids. What i mean by kids is 8-14 year olds, and those are far more likely to read op than aot, jjk, hxh and s***. Those fit more the young adult audience, and while pretty big in itself it doesnt stand a chance against the huge audience op and kny bring. You'll find whole families watching demon slayer and op on tv, the same isnt the case for aot or hxh

I think i disagree, mostly because oda's style got worse over the years imo, and colors do minimize the issue for me, as small as it is

there's special kodomo magazines for kids that age

    but you're right

im reminded off that part where luffy is singing in skypiea....and fun fact: apparently the characters used in writting that song are meant for children specifically....they're not written in a normal way so oda always incorporated a more playful childish way into his story so yeah you right

there's 2 views ive encountered on oda's art

one is mine where it says he's gotten more detailed and intricate

and the second is everything looks too cluttered like there's way too many things going on at once

if that's what you're talking about

Tbh magazine categories havent been that important in Japan in ages lol, shonen magazines are designed usually for 14-16 year olds but then you have hokuto no ken, attack on titan, devilman being serialized. As time went on it became less important, hell some of the most important shonen jump series are aimed at young adults now.
Detective conan for example is a shonen but its mostly old people reading it lmao.
And yeah i've heard that one piece uses characters kids can read too
