UIPhaven’t seen either anime adaptation but i’m on volume 22 in the manga and it makes me so sad that the new one seems to have skimped on the intro of the story before the Shaman fight :( that s*** was a solid 10 volumes lol.

Watanabe has said multiple times mugen and Spike have been heavily inspired by lupin so yeah it makes sense. Gearless joe though is literally a 1 to 1 copy of yabuki joe lol

I liked even Howl's Moving Castle but I agree with you, after most Ghiblie Movies end I crave for more and I find that the concepts or messages aren't explored enough.Tbh i never understood this opinion; laputa, grave of the fireflies, nausicaa, mononoke, howl, spirited away, kaguya, the wind rises all have stories that explore satisfyingly the themes they're trying to convey, with the only limit being the runtime, which is not a ghibli specific thing. Plus the cinematography, animation, direction, soundtrack, most ghibli movies are excellent in every department imo. There are also movies like totoro, porco rosso, kiki that have more simple stories, but most of them are movies for kids so aside from a simple, educational message they dont have much going for them if we're talking strictly about story

I have a soft spot for shows where all characters get a good amount of screen time. I started this franchise for the over the top mechas but that's what won me over.
