due to my short attention span I find it easier to read volumes than chapters

so I switched from online readers to downloading volumes off nyaa and reading em on cdisplay which has great quality and rendering

I've noticed that a lot if not most recent manga try to create artsy disturbing enviroments(chainsaw man, jujutsu kaisen, made in abyss) where as most mangas in the 90s-2000s were more about beautiful-captivating imagery(gunnm, one piece, jojo etc)

we're witnessing a shift in the art of manga (shounen and action manga at least)

Yeah, i think Shounen has shifted to more darker battle manga now. KnY had super huge success. JJK and Chainsawman are also on the rise while something more traditional like Black Clover is just doing ok.

I remember reading in an article a few days ago that the people from shounen jump are looking for manga creators/ideas beyond japan and have a cash prize and serialization on the magazine for the top 3(or 5?) winners....the judges are.. the MHA mangaka, the slam dunk mangaka, the blue exorcist mangaka(why?lol) and finaly Oda.

soo I think fans and the industry alike are tired of the same ol same ol and want fresh ideas and concepts which I think is great.

    edit: here it is animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2020-05-01/tezuka-manga-contest-from-the-weekly-shonen-jump-is-expanding-overseas/.159129

    Watching re zero season 1
Did Subaru ever get less helpless? Honestly tired of him getting saved by b****es and other men

That's kind of the point of the show, no?

He's actually what would have to happen to an actual Otaku if they got isekai'd.

There are no magical powers, sudden gain in strength, or anything like that for Subaru. He is the garbage he was when he got spirited away. If nobody helps him, he IS helpless for the most part.

For what it's worth, I've heard that it gets better in the coming season (Season 3 airs in July).

I haven't read the source material, though, so I can't be too sure.

Yup, you can credit it for setting the scene for anime franchises to thrive outside of Japan.
