yeah i feel the same way, i can handle some corniness and a bit of childishness from most Shonen as long as the plot and characters are good, but the edgy s*** Tokyo Ghoul be on is just not for me

For me personaly some manga/anime strike a chord in a good or bad way and I get invested in em

like the concept of who's in the right with humans vs ghouls reminds me of situations where I've hurt people and them hurting me without realising we're just filling our hearts with hate

plus I'm anorexic so in the beginning where it was about eating human flesh and eating your feelings away that really hit close to home

same goes for manga like berserk where it's tragedy after tragedy or even one piece where the govt is corrupt and everyone is chasing their dreams.

I know this all sounds childish for a person almost in his 30s but if I get invested in something I ride with it till the end......

tldr: to me manga and anime is my form of escapism instead of d**** and alcohol

Moriarty the Patriot is being directed by the same guy who did Run with the Wind so that has my attention

Jujutsu Kaisen is being directed by Park and after seeing god of highschool, im decently confident in his skills with action shows.

IWGP like you said looks good. The Sing Yesterday For Me team is working on that so even if everything else about it flops it will at least look good.

Theres a chance they might all suck, but the people working on these shows is enough to at least get me interested
