assassinating him wouldnt accomplish anything. More than everything, lelouch wanted to destroy britania which means he had to take baby steps and kill the royal officers one at a time but s*** went sideways when euphemia went berserk

It will accomplish his revenge - the main reason he did everything

He also could've used the geass to become king of Britannia, easier than what he did in the anime and millions of people's lives would be spared
