Chihayafuru (2013) - 8/10

I don't know. I think Chihayafuru's characters and everything relating to them (e.g. their relationships with each other, their personal struggles, etc) are the best part of the show. I think this season took a step back from all of that and put a lot more focus on the competitive side of the show instead of character interaction which made me enjoy it a little less.

I liked what they did with Shinobu's character and how she was used to explore more sides of the theme of human connection. Subjects such as Shinobu's belief that team competitions are inferior, and her isolation/loneliness due to the fact everyone gives up when they face her were great things to explore.

Loved Chihaya's growth this season as well as she grew as a leader and started being more considerate of her teammates.

Taichi still the series MVP when it comes to being a well written character, but I do think Chihaya x Arata is the end game that makes the most sense. Chihaya loves kurata, and in her eyes, Arata is kurata personified.

I don't really watch anime at all rn but this one's good and rewatching One Piece is fun

Interesting. What makes you think Taichi is immature? I can't think of anything that would make me think of him as immature from the two seasons I've watched so far.

It's not his fault at all, but he's too afraid of disrespecting his mother and doing things for himself (I know it's a Japanese culture thing too), he can't tell Chihaya that he likes her, he's too busy pleasing anybody and not being true to himself

Arata while not being there at first and just slowly getting a bigger role throughout the seasons, goes through character development, starts knowing what he wants and has this type of self honor that I think Chihaya respects (despite being oblivious to everything)

Taichi is a cool dude and he's talented, but playing karuta just for Chihaya to like him is not the move

not really. Greed island got some good moments but the troupe arc is too good

the arc after greed island is f***ing awesome tho and there's some imajor nfo that connects one arc with the other so dont think greed island is mid either (shit goes down)

Yeah the way it’s structured it’s definitely different from any other romance I’ve seen. I honestly did think it was gonna be some typical love triangle s*** but I was wrong. never seen a show convey emptiness like this
