How do y'all feel about cgi in the first episode of aot s4? I thought it was better than how it is in most anime but i guess we'll have to see more

I feel like it's a disappointing dip in quality and I would have rather the production committee give WIT the extra time they needed instead of giving the series to Mappa just so Mappa could overwork their employees and resort to CGI just to meet deadlines.

Wit would've overworked their employees too since thats what they've been doing since season 1, also no other studio wanted anything to do with the project since deadlines were hell. It either was mappa or nothing, and mappa has done good with episode 1 imo, the first titan that appeared in the episode did not even look in cgi and reiner's transformation was done very well. Yeah, wit handled titans better but they did colossal in cgi which was atrocious, stood out too much

Wit resorted to CGI for the most difficult titan at that point in time. Mappa is resorting to CGI for titans that Wit used 2D for in the past. I would have been perfectly fine waiting for the final season if it meant getting 2D titans, but the committee knew that AoT was too big to fail so it didn't really matter what corners had to be cut in order to rush out the final product so now I'm stuck with CGI titans.
Literally the only good part of Wit losing AoT is that they don't gotta waste their talents on a show that's a giant mess of browns and can actually flex their muscles on shows like Great Pretender.

I see where you're coming from, i think the only polarizing aspect of the season will be the cgi. The episode was only legally avaible here in italy today so when i heard people were talking about titans being in cgi i got kinda worried, but when i watched the episode i was glad it wasnt bad cgi, since the japanese have never been good with it. Imo its on the level of beastars where its tolerable and doesnt ruin it. Of course when you look at the fact wit animated titans by themselves it may be kinda disappointing so i understand why you feel that way.
Also yeah great pretender was great, waiting for vinland s2 now
Also one thing that i really like about this adaptation is how closely the art style of the anime resembles the art style of the manga. It woudlve probably been an issue with the first seasons but isayama's art has become quite decent now so its really cool
why did I sleep on hajime no ippo for so long?? s*** is fiyah
The manga or anime? Always been interested in that one

Wasn’t anywhere near as bad as some people made it out to be. Only some close up shots of Reiner, and Zeke were a slight dip in quality.

I only found zeke to be lowkey bad, reiner was great imo, the transformation scene was top quality
Looking forward to watching the season 4 opener of AOT! Also will be starting the 2nd part of Great Pretender since they added it on Netflix and I'm 2 episodes into Neon Genesis Evangelion! What a time to watch anime.
