Yeah, honestly this is f***ed. Well, there were too many good series airing, one of them had to be sacrificed i guess. And horimiya is not as popular as tpn, they need the anime to be good for publicity

They could've made it a mediocre romcom but they obviously have passionate people working on it

12 episodes into golden time and I’m absolutely loving it so far.. was expecting it to be more of a comedy tho but ended up being more drama and not mad tbh

1 and 3 arent that great imo. Part 1 has aged badly, and part 3 i feel it was lackluster aside from when they're in egypt. Part 5 did part 3's concept way better imo. Part 4 is amazing too

To me it's just the character being really fleshed out and the emphasis being on character development and not little dramas between them. Also every tiny conflict or misunderstanding is resolved the same episode instead of stretching it out like most romcoms do. Also it's funny, AND romantic (every episode has a cute/romantic moment) AND they're not a toxic couple, which is a common thing in these anime. Both honest people with strong personalities.

Yeah i agree, although its not original its still kinda unconventional for a romcom. Miyamura causally confessing for example was off-putting and funny since in so many romcoms the confession is the climax of the series
