just finished re zero 2nd season part 1 and a few episodes of the part 2 and this might be one of the cringiest series that ever touched my monitor.

writing was awful to the point where I had to google the authors age because I just could't believe that a grown ass man actually wrote this. Only character im kinda interested in was Roswall but I don't think I can bear hearing one more line of dialogue from this show; anime has way too much dialogue for how uninteresting the dialogue actually is. Last episode I watched really had subaru telling emilia he loves her and emilia being like "no u dont" for 15 minutes bruh, i cant with this s***

Ya the show kinda sucks. Emilia is pure waifu bait in s1, i guess she gets development in s2 but i lost interest

Completely agree. Re:Zero has some of the worst writing I've ever had to sit through in anime. They don't even have conversations for the most part. It feels like Subaru just says some nerdy or cringy s***, the other (usually waifu bait) character playfully says something that can be summed up as "oh you", and then it continues like nothing even happened. There's no actual back and forth interaction, which means none of the characters have a chance to actually build a personality and seem like an actual human being.

re:zero stans gonna be fuming reading this page but yea i mostly agree. i picked up season 2 over the summer out of boredom and actually thought that there was some potential in the lore it was setting up in part 1, but the "payoff" of part 2 has been pretty ass. can't believe this was the arc that LN readers were hyping up too lool, im done with re:zero after this season

Im enjoying it so far and im on season 4 already, once you adapt to the typical stuff it gets good pretty quick

lol y’all can stay schleepin on Re:Zero, but saying the writing is trash is just wrong it’s definitely not the best by any means, and it is angsty af sometimes, but i find some of it genuinely touching (some of Emilia’s monologues and convos in the past & alt present for example ). it’s an emotional show which is sort of hard to watch depending on my mood, but when it hits it hits.

i feel like SO much of the hate for the show stems from people being unable to stand Subaru he is annoying but this second season has had less of him.

the first half of this season (and the second half so far tbh) had a tonnnn of build up and not a lot of payoff which combined with the massive amount of lore they’ve been dumping makes it kinda hard to follow. i can appreciate that as well,though, cuz i feel like some of it is confusing cuz of the relative originality of the story it’s telling.

i guess it’s a love it or hate it kinda show, which is better than being another generic shonen lol.

Just finished End of Evangelion. That was a lot to unpack to say the least. Didn't really change my initial stance of "plot doesn't matter," and all the best parts of the movie was stuff that related back to the narrative themes of the TV series.

It helped reaffirm my opinion that Asuka is the best written character in anime though.
