Death Note is still one of my favorite that s***s goated

Finished Aku no Hana manga in one sitting and it was a pretty dope read that I'd recommend

I fw authors approach in writing the story like context wise the read turned out more 'digestible' than I thought initially. Because its inspired by an old literature work and often names and works of poets/writers gets brought up I thought it would be filled head-deep-in-the-ass, pompous crap but author did great at restricting them to the setting and not forcing them on readers (audience). It felt like im observing accounts of events happening and how they impact the characters, s*** is like stage play, somehow fitting what with the material it's inspired by

Truth be told I don't fw any of the chars even up till the end, the setting and the events are utter bs lmao. But really it was fascinating to see it develop until closure. Lately my interest in manga has been stagnating and finding this kicked up my interest to go discover more. Man I miss feeling like this

It was quite a different experience reading it. It’s dark in its own way and the art is very good. It almost gives off this feeling of “wanting to be free” kinda like in Aku no Hana but the horror and vampire dynamic gives it its own identity. There might be some moments that some may consider edgy but by no means is it corny (at least to me).

The atmosphere

I get that it would come off as edgy cause the author is so good at that lol but in the mean time they keeps things balanced/in check with minor chars being the voice of reason. The main characters aren't always placed in a good light and the repercussions are often presented and at times very quickly (also adds to the read being a thrill)

The art is brazy for sure

My way too early hot take of the season is that 86 will explore racism/discrimination and adjacent topics five times better than AoT did. Good first episode.
